This is a great moment in the history of America. The credit goes to the citizens of America for creating History obviously if Abraham Lincoln existed would have rejoiced at this moment. This reminds me one of the Journalist Mr. Francois Gautier one of the articles questioning Americans I quote his words “At the same time, my 30 years in India have taught me that nowhere in the world has there been so much effort to rectify a wrong -- from 1947 onwards. This resulted in a Dalit, the late K R Narayanan, born in a poor village of Kerala, to be elected President of India, one of the highest posts in this nation. Has a black man ever been President of the United States? Unquote. Dear Mr. Francois Gautier your concocted storey proved wrong. The American president’s position is responsible position which is to be elected by the people (through popular vote) and not selected or elected by the representatives. To remind you the President position is a rubber stamp. Any tom, dicken Harry can become President of India. My question to you is CAN A HARIJAN BECOME A PRIME MINISTEER OF INDIA?
There is an old story about Africa! When the white man first came to Africa, the black man had the land & the white man had the Bibles. But less than a century later, the white man had the black man's land & the black man had the white man's Bibles. This story simply sums up all that there is to know about conversions!
it was kind of u to let people know what the christians were doing but r u really sure the stuffs they did were wrong .it is easy for a person to stand n talk about, but it is difficult what one really goes through ,so next time when you want to right something about christians in india please do write something that is fact n truth. thanku once again n may the lord almighty bless u n the works that u do .Amen

To born as a Christian (Francois Gautier) does not make him a practicing Christian, And having Hindu name does not make any one Hindu as well. This alludes that your veiw from very beginning is anti-Christian. Right!!!!!! May be...
Francois Gautier does not have proper understanding of Christian faith even. For instance your comment on "There are certain concepts in Christianity I am proud of: Charity for others, the equality of social systems in many Western countries, Christ's message of love and compassion..." this means you are not a Christian fully and by braging about your background you neither can prove that you are Christian nor what you are saying is right. You have articulated negatively, probably you have been brain washed with some wrong propoganda. Do you have link with Brahmin? racial? I doubt!!!!
Now who are responsible for untouchability or caste system in India? Who made Brahmin to be top in the caste system? Brahmin themselves? You know the answer for this I guess. Don't you think they are paying back for what they have done in the past. Like a Law of Karma in Hinduism, what you sow, shall you reap as says the Bible.
I am a christian by choice. I have experienced for myself the good change that the message of Jesus Christ has brought about in me. Surely if this can be good for me it can be good to others too - and so I will continue to spread the good word. Want it accept it dont want it reject it. Like for everything good and great there are also those that bad mouth, those that bring a bad name and those to whom ignorance is bliss. Great names can be recalled in history who wanted to wipe the name of Jesus Christ off the face of the earth-they have been resigned to history and that is it. Jesus Christ continues to be, continues to change lives for the better. And yes, I am proud to be an Indian. And now that our nation is poised to become a major world player I can see our country opening up like never before I hope our culture does not get eroded if that's the case let us stop the progress right now lest we end up writing letters of how progress has been the great culture crusher.
It seems from the rather eloquent but yet highly uninformed essay by Mr. Franc, that the real awareness of Christianity in India is missing.
It is absolutely untrue and unfair to stereotype conversion to Christianity as some result of brainwash, bribe or ignorance.
I am an Indian, born to a Sikh family, and the only convert to Christianity in my family. I learned about Christ from a friend in College, and the truth is that most of my early spiritual progress was made with the help of some very successful and intelligent individuals who also are converts to Christianity from Hindu/Muslim/Catholic/Christian families.
That last statement might jar as a contradiction. You may ask yourself how can a Catholic or Christian be converted to Christianity. And I say this with the complete authority of Christian Biblical Scripture backing me, that "nobody can enter the Kingdom of Heaven, unless he is born again". Which only means that conversion to Christianity is a personal journey that every individual on this planet was created to make. Being born in a family with an existing worldview can only go so far as to helping or hindering a persons journey.
RE:Try these books on Christianity to educate yourself

a good reading for anybody truly curious about Christianity as an existing worldview
(A) Mere Christianity - by C. S. Lewis - A fantastic summary of the Christian faith, very contemporary and humorous reading. This book might not be available in India, you could maybe buy a copy online and have it shipped to you.
(B) Eternity in their Hearts - by Don Richardson
(C) The Jesus I never knew - by Philip Yancey
(D) Jesus among other Gods - by Ravi Zacharias
You can even try reading the Bible yourself. One can pick up the New Testament from any Christian bookstore. I would recommend somebody starting from the gospel of Mathew or the gospel or John. The book of Genesis in the Old Testament is also very interesting reading for the fundamentals of the Christian Worldview.
