Six years, eight days, one hero
by David on Dec 28, 2005 10:30 AM  Permalink

No mention of the man who died? We're quick to honor the 'hero' alive. What heroism? What about the one man who died?

When I recall the incident, I think of terrorism, the man who died, and the impotent government that handeled the issue. BUT NOT of the 'hero' who did his job. Again, WHAT heroism?

Well, there has not been a single year on Christmas Eve when I haven't thought about 24 December 1999.It was a humiliation for all Indians.Great to hear that Capt.Saran is doing well. There was an elderly Flight Engineer on board.Where's he now?It was a great effort for having flown for so long over unknown skies.I also can't forget the Late Rupin Katyal.Any news on his wife?
Hope we never have a hijack again and wipe terror of the face of the earth.

What was HEROIC in that????
by Vijay on Dec 27, 2005 09:01 PM  Permalink

Thae title you have given is totally wrong and shows
lack of sensitivity.
One can not forget the loss of innocent lives in it who were brutally killed by Pakistani hi-jackers and also the heavy price and humiliation the country had to under go.

We can definitely give credit to the pilot for his patience and safe journey under the circumstance.

One could have become a HERO only by saving all passengers, pride of the country and by either killing or capturing the hi-jackers Not otherwise!!

Vijay
