Mr. Shenoy, Your lack of logic in the article, makes you far from being an intellectual
by Bikram Das on Dec 17, 2005 09:05 AM  Permalink

Mr. Shenoy,

You have made an excellent step towards proving yourself as a racist and less of an intellectual. For one, everyone but yourself has discussed this issue for being right or wrong, not Ganguly being Bengali or Marathi. And for two, the people, inpericular Bengalis, who have raised their voice agianst this injustice, seems to have provided you the right oppurtunity to spit your racial venom which might be nurturing in your mind for decades. Sorry sir, there will be less takers and more haters for your ideas.

Bengal,Ganguly & election

There must be a reason (may be more than one) for which there is so much noise with the ommision of Mr.

Ganguly from the Indian test team. It is indeed quite

transparent that Mr. G. Chappell is very definitely

involved. It is difficult to comprehend the ominous

silence of Mr. Rahul Dravid. There is "gag" order from the "supreme of cricket India"--on all players, who are scared stiff and eager to hang on to their selections , but it is really painful to see that Mr. Tendulker our "Icon" has lost his upright posture and desensitised vocal chord.

Yes, Mr. Ganguly is from Bengal. So what ? Is Bengal a province of Australia? Bengal, Punjab, Maharastra they all belong to India.

Forget about everything else, election in W.B. included. Ask this question : Is it true that Mr. Chappell, primarily, & Dravid, secondarily influenced the puppet selectors with More with limited playing experience toying with India's cricketing future, thinking that Messiah Chappell will deliver us from all evils and a glorious future will appear with his

" magical experiments", hence axe Ganguly (who knows too much of Chappell's advent and Dalmiya's old lackey.

We are yet to see more of More et al.

Once again you did not loose an opportunity Mr. Shenoy
by Shubhankar Basu on Dec 17, 2005 04:30 AM  Permalink

No matter how many people point their fingers at me for having detected Mr. Shenoy's bias towards the safron party, I am confident I made a wise comment. Add to that, like most other Indians (probably) he could not rise above making up a ridiculous statement relating to Bengalis and Bengal. Before I write a bit more of my opinions, I would like to clarify once more that "Rediff" is no representative of a segment of India. When its discussion panel, people may have differing views. But from a columnist one expects a rational argument. Alas!!

The case of Sourav Ganguly been dropped from the team is a sensitive topic. I am a bengali, and I can say that I feel ridiculously embarrased to find Bengal and Bengalis going into disarray when they are reacting. Lesser the said its better, about politics entering in this domain, including protest by political parties. I DO NOT SUPPORT THESE UNPROFESSIONAL OUTBURSTS TIME AND AGAIN. I wish "Bengal" could have showed the same strength of character alike Ganguly himself in showing a different form of protest. However the statement that Bengal does not have any Heroes to cry for, is not only frustrating but very very audacious. I strongly disagree

"Bengal has very few heroes left today"...well..that statement would apply to entire india.(Author conveniently forgets Amartya sen/congress's neglect during 70s and 80s). He wants us to beleive parties who came in to prominance based on 'babri masjid' talk about 'substantive issues'...very subjective biased analysis.

Hellish Existence !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-
In Bengal, we did not have

1. a single communal carnage in last decade.
2. a single caste clash
3. a single Godhra & a single Gujarat
4. A single bomb blast
5. Highest agricultural output growth rate in India.
6. Highest fish production in India.
7. Second highest FDI in India
8. Largest proportion of people as graduates
9. Lowest no of dowry cases

How many Amartya Sen or Satyajit Ray rest of India had produced.
In a lighter note how many Rani Mukherjees or Bipasha Basus.

Do some introspection & then write this rubbish

We are far

Bengal, Ganguly & elections

If the 'well educated' people of Bengal continue voting for these no-good lefties, then they certainly deserve their hellish existence. I'd go as far as saying "good for you" - stupidity has a price, but suspension of disbelief has an even steeper price. They can paint the state as 'red' as they like, but Bengal will remain a destitute land until such time as reason prevails.
