Do think before you talk
by Abdullah on Apr 23, 2006 04:34 PM  Permalink

Hi

Mr. Shennoy! You are a invaluable man for your vison in political walk, but you should be rathet carful for your own comment on any particular area. Whatever you have written implies that you did not know bengal and bengalis well. You pointed out only two heroes whereas we have more. you told that we have only one hero in present whereas I can count as many you can't in any state of india at present. Then how it was possible for you to give such rubbish comment. As far as left is concerned, I wanna make you remeber the great ignorance of congress between 70s, 80s and 90s. Beside that, do you feel that all bengalis are fool. You shoul have some deep observation in all over India if you have a impartial vision then you can get some fact about difference between people between urban life and rural life. Adding that at present we have most successful CM. Can you feel it? Can you show me any Gujrat, Babri Masjid or any other great cummunal clash during lefties gvt. So, with great regard i should like to suggest you that must reveiw your vision about bengal.

And for rediff that you should be more responsible too with you disclamer.

Bengal, Ganguly & just WB Elections?
by Vinod Tuli on Dec 27, 2005 07:51 PM  Permalink

Seasoned columnist TVR Shenoy has amply tried to justify the re-induction of Ganguly into Indian Cricket thus jeopardisng the future of the Game to which the nation sees as perhaps the only field where we can show some form today. But in the historical facts narrated by him, he has missed out the name of one undisputedly the greatest STAR of yesteryears - SUBHASH BOSE. However, the moot point of vacating the berth for youngsters has not been emphasised by media strongly enough including by Mr Shenoy for that matter. Like many current issues of national interest gathering dust in view of smaller matters gaining priority if not notoriety shows that there is something wrong somewhere in this regard. Surprisingly, Mr Ganguly has not spoken a word about his inclusion and otherwise all these weeks of controversy. Years back, M. Azharuddin had also behaved in similar ways till he parted company with many shady matters/inquiries against. Vinod Tuli

Bengal and current heros
by partha biswas on Dec 26, 2005 05:49 PM  Permalink

Amartya Sen cannot be considered to be a Bengali Hero or even an Indian hero, and he has come into the limelight only after his Noble Prize. How many heard of him prior to that?If you want to show the likes of Kumar Sanu,Abhijeet and the others in the same rank of Netaji,Aurobindo,Shayama Prasad,Ashutosh,JC Bose,Satyen Bose,Chittaranjan Das or even Bidhan Roy etc, I think we are degrading the respect the whole country HAS had for Bengalis'.The fact remains that we have been living in our past, educational institutions are mentally bankrupt, politically we have deprived the already depraved lot, seeing some of the hinterland of Bengal makes me cry, compared to say Maharastra/Gujarat/Karnataka/Kerala/Punjab... the list is unending. So lets be honest..we DONT have a leader to look upto.Thats that.

narrow-sightedness
by Bipratanu on Dec 26, 2005 01:06 PM  Permalink

Mr. Shenoy,

It was far below the expectation level from you.
Well, Bengal has a lot of problems for sure..But the way you blamed a particular political party (whoever it is) for all the problems and dethroning them will be the only solution is full of narrow-sightedness... May I ask you a question ? Do you think the people of Bengal Fool ?

Ignorance galore!
by R Sengupta on Dec 20, 2005 09:48 AM  Permalink

Mr Shenoy as a loyal RSS soldier expressed his desire to see BJP as part of opposition grand alliance. But, the fact remains, the present leadership of BJP in WB are worthless & incompetent. They have absolutely no idea of rural bengal. They are mostly busy in creating media hype & TV interview.
To defeat the Left, opposition parties has to do the following -
1. Go to villages & build organisation there.
2. Forget urban middle class, only 83 out of 294 seats are in urban Bengal. And already most of them have gone to anti-left forces. And the interest of urban middle class in is contrary to rural poor.
3. The poorer districts does not have any basic infrastructure. But, state BJP leaders are more busy with RSS agenda of engineering communal riot.Development is a word alien to them.
4. Build booth level committee to monitor voter list. But, can upper middle class workers manage to work that much hard to spent at least a week in rural bengal & make themselves familiar to that society.
The left inspite of all shortcomings, work very hard to ensure electoral victory unlike the state BJP who loves comfortable drawing room meetings to lambast the left.
Mr Shenoy, do some homework first!!!
