It is very astonishing that Indian Law makers are paid pitance definitely this is not justified considering his status atleast his monthly salary should be Rs 7,00,000 per month.
It is saddening to hear that our MPs are underpaid. Even with all these perks it just does not add up, atleast appears that way to me... But i doubt they would revert to honest ways even if the salary is doubled.
dear sir, it is a universal fact that most of the politicians are unethical. they are all public servants. no body is above the law. corruption is a crime & if any politician breaks the law, they should be prosecuted in the court of law.MAHATMA GANDHI ONCE SAID THAT TRUTH IS GOD.so politicians are not suppossed to hide the truth.in india, have you ever heared any high ranking politician sitting in the jail, eventhough they have committed crime.this is not fair. Just like in the US congress, pay these guys over 5 lakhs a year. But do not make them heros. Make them work hard to keep their job. But that's not realistic in India because there are North Indian leaders, South Indian leaders, Caste leaders, Muslim leaders, Christian, sikh leaders etc. So once they become a leader, people of India tend to keep them there and worship them regardless of how they perform!
Second problem India has is this nonsense love for silly ideologies. ie Money is not important but principle is. For example, some time I read in newspaper that the salary of Indian president is just 1 Rs or something to that effect. That's just crap.
I think unless Indian people change the way they elect people, you can't reform the political system there! That simple!
