by Amit on Dec 13, 2005 06:15 PM  Permalink

Y are these guys always on the wrong side .If this was the case with people living in the slums mostly not even residents of india they would have been given a stay on humanitarian basis not matter they are not paying taxes or they are threat to the security of the country. Also where were the Authorites when these structures where build were these guys sleeping ??why are the authorities always reactive rather than being proactive.

Demolitions at Ulhasnagar
by P. Ramaswamy on Dec 13, 2005 05:13 PM  Permalink

Hi,

It is sad to note the plight of residents in Ulhasnagar, whose houses are about to be demolished. I would like to ask the powers that be some simple Questions:

1. While politicians in Mumbai fall over each other to protect slums that have come up before 1995 and wanting to extend this deadline to 2000. Why is it that nobody bothers about these residents whose structure have come up much before 1995 ?

2. It is not the residents who have constructed these building, In fact they have spent their life savings, or secured loans to buy a roof over their heads, will have to part with their money as well the asset that they have procured. The people who have actually done the illegal acts such as the builders in connivance with Civic official whose pockets were lined go scott free?

3. Before demolishing the buildings can these Builders and the guilty civic officials be tried, and penalised, including returning the amounts to people who have invested. After which their houses that are now their HOMES be demolished.

Regards
