What's in a name?
by Sumit M Dargan on Dec 11, 2005 10:34 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If others have been down the road to folly; is it now necessary for a cosmopolitan city like Bangalore to do so thanks to the political stupidity of a few!

What difference does it make if the city retains it's current name? Will it be less Kannada; will it find less respect in the IT world? Will the children in the streets be less hungry or more clothed?

Why doesn't the honourable Chief Minister ask his Chief Secretary first to work out the cost that the exchequer would have to bear to see this transition in terms of new letterheads; announcements and other related changes? He may well be surprised that this amount may be more than his state budgetary allocation to education!

Come on, sir do something worthwhile when you have the opportunity.......

retrograde politicians

i am waiting desperately for these old age politicians to go away and give way to the new generation of leaders.

all these people do not reflect the thinking of the young generation. "bangaluru " simply does not seem stylish enough. So does "mumbai" and "kolkata".

Keep your identity wit the times dear "so called intellectuals of bangaluru".

I am surprised why does not any body move against such distortion of identity which are of national importance.

jai hind,

ashish

What else can you expect from a coalition CM!!
by saurab on Dec 11, 2005 10:18 PM  Permalink

The respected CM has not been able to do much for the city in terms of its needs (read infrastructure). So what else can you expect from him.

25 years from now you can read in history books it was because of the then CM Dharam Singh that Bangalore got such an internatinal status. He did so many things for the city that the Karnataka state could never give him back in kind.

SOS Request:

Kindly don't change the name of the city. Bangalore looks much more cosmopolitan and global than Bengaluru. With the world shrinking by each passing year, I don't see what reasoning can you give to enhance the regionalism.
