Trade, key to Indo-Russ ties
by labrea on Dec 02, 2005 10:28 PM  Permalink

Just a lot of empty talk. What exactly has India gained from the one-side realtionship with Russia? Not a whole lot, except a whole lot of useless junk that passes for military hardware, and some aircraft kits which are assembled by HAL and passed off as indigenously manufatctured "under licence". During the Soviet era, India practically subsidized their economy, with the Rupee account, biased in favor of an unreal, overvalued Rouble against an abysmally, way undervalued Rupee. And if the Russ are not willing to honor their previous commitments, why does India slavishly keep supporting them like a lap dog? Would they have treated the Chinese with such contempt? I seriusly doubt it. But they, like everyone else on this planet, know that Indians are push-overs, a suckers for any smidgen of flattery.
