Hello!

Well researched article and brings out the Mughal rule, period by period. In fact this article brings out yet another evidence regarding the Taj Mahal. In case anyone notices, temples are built closer to rivers. Tombs are always constructed in gardens and the actual tombs are in the centre. Taj Mahal was not constructed by Shah Jahan, but was a Shiva Temple, much before Shah Jahan came to rule, as was Red Fort. It was a practice by Muslim rulers to usurp architectures of other religions and faiths and convert them into mausoleums. Shah Jahan was no different. In fact, Mumtaz al Ansari (not Mumtaz Mahal) was one of his wives and there was no love involved.

Re: why no mention of Hindu genocide and forced conversions?
by Raj on Aug 31, 2005 11:05 AM  Permalink

G'day Lindsay,
Well, you have mentioned about how great Moghul rulers were. What about the bloodiest massacre of Hindus as Kafirs? What about the looting of temples and raping of captive Hindu women in the name of Islam? Killing of captives is justified by Mohammad himself and was truly followed by Islamic rulers. You should also have mentioned about forcible conversions of Hindus. What about Jejiya? Being an unbiased writer, you should have mentioned that Moghul rulers razed Hindu temples in Ayodhya, Somnath, Mathura (to name a few) and constructed mosques there. My goodness, secularism doesn't mean that we should hide heinous crimes of Islam rulers!!

Great Mughals???
by Swaminathan on Aug 31, 2005 10:00 AM  Permalink

Lindsay Pereira, what's so Great about these mongol mughals?

Is it for having massacred millions of Hindus?
Is it for demolishing scores of temples?
Is it for practising true Islam?

They were Barbarians of the highest order, Akbar included.

Manmohan visit's Babur's tomb
by Babur on Aug 31, 2005 03:04 AM  Permalink

It's a pity that the prime minister of 'Bharat' goes paying his (and the nation's?) obeisance to the 'GREAT Babur'.

I think he doesn't need to go to Afghanistan in future to do this. He simply has to incur the wrath of our Pakistani 'friends', so they may unleash their latest missile which has been so aptly titled 'Babur'.

Once that reaches Indian soil, he can deify the site where the 'GREAT Babur' landed.

All hail the CONGRESS!!
