All our religious leaders such as Guru Nanak, Sant Kabir and Sri Ramakrishna have pleaded for harmony of religions. Dr Singh has written a thought provoking article. All sensible and rational persons should help spread the message of peace and interfaith understanding. We have to be united and disciplined to contain terrorism and help masses to oppose the propoganda of hate from the extremists. The religious leaders have an important role to play in reducing fanatism and Govt must provide protection to commomn man from becoming victim to terrorist act. Let us start an anti-terrorism movement.
Very good article , i think Officers like Satyapal Singh should take a lead and people like us will be willing to work under them for the betterment of society and india.
A very thought provoking article. I wish this article reaches more and more readers concerned with current state of our society. As of those who are not, this article should be an eye-opener.
The author's views can not be found fault with. With his professional experience he knows the problem of terrorism in all its entirety. But to think that the present actions on terrorism are to be dispensed with as they have failed to deliver is an oversimplistic solution. But for the efforts being mounted now the problem would have aggravated and the feeling of insecurity felt by the people at large would have been on a larger scale One thing that has to be said but seldom expressed is that in today's world terrorism is being promoted and practiced by one group of people. They have institutionalised set up to propogate the cult.but no one would like to name them.Atleast at present the root of terrorism lies there.Let people understand why they do this and tackle them intellectually If they can get away with murder as they are now doing, with the authorities handling them with kidgloves it wont take long for other groups to retaliate even as a means of survival S.Ramaswamy
The Author Started well abt givin possible solns. to eradicate but somehow lost da way in middle and started prejudiced blame game. Apart from religion teachings, its government policies, Suppression of Human rights and lot of other reasons that might influence a person to be a extremist.

Where is the prejudiced blame game in the write-up? I think you are seeing a black hole where there exists NONE.What Dr.Singh has written is what intellectuals, not necessary wise-men,have said throughtout the ages. The Government in any country can do NOTHING.It is the people who matter.Factually lets take USA.It has been the Land of opportunities for every caste creed and sect, regardless of religious beliefs. But what happened. Why did 9/11 take place? Iraq came AFTER 9/11,so lets not speak about USA atrocities in Iraq.Forget USA, take our country,India.Where has been the oppression to any community? The oppressed class is only the POOR,regardless of religion. The Adivasis being oppressed by the upper class religious intellectuals, from each and every religious background, the villagers being oppressed by the landlords who ALWAYS get away with even murder, the honest trader and business man being oppressed by goons(be it Dawood, Pappu,or Bablu).Yes I do agree that the Police force is equally to blame, carrying on a British raj attitude even today(they prey on informers, who later on become goons themselves). It is YOU and I who have to take the initiative.NOT politicians,or Cops.
