Exchange of fire between BSF and BDR at India-Bangladesh border near Malda
by Omkar Patki on Aug 20, 2005 11:03 AM  Permalink

In 1971, it was because of India that Bangladesh has got its independence. Even today, ridden by evils like corruption, lethargy and almost incompetent political leadership, Bangladesh is trying hard to provoke India. Of course, the Indian leadership and Indian army are shrewd enough not to be lured by these provocations and therefore, they have still kept the area under BSF control and not passed it on to army as in case of a war. However, I feel that Bangladesh needs to be taught a lesson. India, which is size-wise and military strength-wise a giant, cannot let mice like Bangladesh to bother itself. It should strike one deadly blow to Bangladesh which would cripple the already paraplegic country and then watch the fun. No doubt, all these provocations are at the insistence of ISI of Pakistan. This blow would be a signal not only to Pakistan and Bangladesh, but also to the terrorist outfits like the Maoist Naxals and ULFA.

The present government in Bangladesh should reflect on the abundance of their resources and future prospects as an Independent country. They should not allow any minor satraps to bring disrepute to the people of Bangladesh. It is supposed to be a democratic country with an elected government with "authority".
The Prime Minister should intervene, assert herself and prevent any escalation and loss of blood. She would also do well to take care of her people who should not be subjected to paranoia and simultneous bombings in public places resulting in deaths of innocents.

by GOWARDHANPRASHAD on Aug 19, 2005 10:59 PM  Permalink

India must understand the need of hour.Bangladesh is presenly in grip of fundamentalists with an ideology
of Taliban .They are playing in hands of those who want only 100% islamic world without space for other religions.India must stop looking and acting humanly for those who want to destroy our nation.Bullet for bullet policy will not suit in this case as Bangladesh will get sympathy from other world .Talk to their govt directly.Make intelligence acive there.Expose their millitant camps.Economic sanctions will work.Sieze the borders. No entry for bangladeshis should be our policy.Hault all joint activities with them.

Tame Bangladesh
by Sandip Nayak on Aug 19, 2005 04:42 PM  Permalink

The BDR and Bangla Army firing on the Indian side for various reasons including facilitating infiltration of illegal emmigrants and even sending robbers on short-term "robbers' visa" is not new. Now Bangladesh is the greatest threat in India's neighbourhood. The former headache, Pakistan, is gradually emrging as a mature neighbour despite its own problems and policies.
It's time, the Indian Government acts on time to tackle the menace called Bangladesh. Else, India will have to face numerous embarassment in the time to come.

It is sheer stupidity that we report such instances. rather we should teach these #$@^&*(% a strict lesson, and make such a display of force like Israel so that none of our neighbours like Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, etc take us in a lighter vein.
We must use a brutal force in all these cases.
