I wish many journalists would at some time or the other experience similar situations in govt hospitals.Yes there are callous medical personnel but the proportion is exactly similar to what we see in the general population which you would agree is by and large made up of good human beings. Even to this day in an emergency or an accident your chances of survival are brightest in govt set ups. The doctors there are also teachers and are dealing with 100 times more such emergencies than any private hospital however classy it may be.A couple of years back my neighbours son had an accident and was in a state of collapse and was taken to a corporate hospital. They went through the proces of scans etc all the while assuming it was a head injury.Nobody had the sense to realise that he was pale as a sheet and should therefore be bleeding internally rather than a injury to the head which would cause unconsciousness. He had a ruptured spleen and an emergency surgery with transfusion would have saved him.Under similar circumstance in govt hospitals I have seen lives being saved by sensible clinical knowledge.
Thanks for highlighting a positive aspect of our health care system.
I also have taken treatment in several Govt Hospitals ( Govt Ayurvadic hospital, Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat - Govt Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad - Govt Civil Hospital, Bareilly ). I got the best possible treatment absolutely free and without any corrupt means.
They are much better than Private Doctors who look for ways and means to fatten their bills.
The only problem I perceive with Govt Hospiatls is long Quees and heavy work load on staff. Because of this they are not able to concentrate on individuals and give impatient answers. But still they deserve great appreciation for services they are giving.
it is indeed heartening that we have such doctors in govt hospitals. we should all respect such people and honour them so that they are motivated to continue in the same fashion. durga das mundhra
As per my experience with government and private hospitals, I agree with Syed that the doctors at government hospitals are more capable. The medicines they prescribe are more effective and cheaper than what the private doctors prescribe.
It is Really nice to read this article and thanks for the author who wrote this really.
There are lot of people lime Dr Ram who do their duties well in worst case conditions with minimum facilities in all fields without expecting fame.
We are all under same impression that Govt organizations will not work properly and still there are some people and incidents which proves that our opinions were false.
One such person is enough to change so many lives. It might be another case for Dr. Ram and the hospital staff, but for the humanity and readers like me; IT HAS MADE A LOT OF DIFFERENCE. In fact a Doctor saved my life when I was hardly 2 or 3 days old. I've personally gone to Government Hospitals few years back and had bitter experiences too. Things have changed and people were greedier for money. In spite of all these there are good hospitals, Doctors who give their life to save so many life. LONG LIVE DR. RAM. LET HIS WORK CONTINUE FOREVER.
I totally agree and beleive that the best docs are at the Govt hospitals. The sheer number of patients they see every day and the diverse nature of diseases they encounter makes them the most experienced. It is unfortunate that they are looked down upon just because they work in Govt hospitals.
I salute all the doctors as they work endlessly and are always on a 24 hr shift to help the people in distress or need. I believe that after GOD its the DOCTORS who save the life. They never think about themselves or their family while work and i am a proud daughter of my Doctor Dad. I wish all sucess to all the doctors working endlessly.
