Good Article
by Niraj on Aug 18, 2005 11:54 AM  Permalink

It was a nice article, appreciating the doctor's work. Its very easy for us to just blame the system (BMC as always) for our woes, and keep abusing the doctors/sweepers/policemen for our grieveances, when there are actually many efficient people serving in the BMC, who do there work without any complaints.

The fact is that the Government hospitals are so much overloaded with people that the doctors are at times treating 20-30 patients at times.

Its when we faces such situations and actually ineract with the concerned people , that we realize how efficient they are and how they perform there duties under so much stress and burden.

Hope others realize this and act responsibly.

Salute to Dr Ram
by Amulyadhan Rout on Aug 18, 2005 11:06 AM  Permalink

Most of the senior Doctors says " If you have not served in a Govt. Hospital, you are not a Doctor" The PSUs and Govt Organisation have excellent talent and prior to opening up of the Economy, most of the passed outs of AIIMS, PGI Chandigarh, AFMC, IITs, RECs (Now NIT) were joining these organisaion. Because they are committed, they are continuing. What they receive, a salute like this. If any body look to their compensation, they survive only on sustainance allowance, whereas their counterparts are getting heavy pay packets.

Whenever we get opportunity, we should salute and compensate then tangibly.

I salute them,

Amulya Rout

Dr Ram
by SANDEEP on Aug 18, 2005 11:05 AM  Permalink

I think media, again should highlight this point, Government Doctors which work atleast in Maharashtra are committed, you will find many Dr Ram in Govt Hospital, only thing is that the perception about Govt Hospital changes only after having personal experiences like your reporter, Can we change such Perception?

Remember Pereception is always bigger than truth.
I know Dr Subramanium sir, In Civil Hospital Sangli and his Surgery unit , which is totally comitted to wellness of the mankind.

Media nowadays plays a role of destroyter instead of creative journalism.
Rediff be creative like this only.

Govt. Hospital
by Pradeep Kr. Inani on Aug 18, 2005 10:13 AM  Permalink

Last month our House maid was hospitalized in Govt Hospital run by BMC in Goregoan(W).

My wife & me went to see her. To our delight I found that hospital had more parking space than Hinduja Hospital. It bore a fairly neat look. It had automatic lifts like any other Private Hospital and they were working well.

The ward was spacious and there was doctor on duty.

The Hospital supplied free treatment to our maid and she was due for discharge. We spoke to Doctor, she was very nice and explained us the post hospitalization care to be taken.

When I asked her for any expenses which Hospital had done, I was informed that some of the tests were done from an outside lab, but payment has been done from a fund which is raised by Hospital staff to treat needy people.

After discharge Hospital also has a procedure to give medicines to patients which they should take after care.

Keep it up BMC. Keep it up Dr. Ram

Pradeep. Kr. Inani
