LET US TAKE CONCRETE ACTION
by Ravi Arora on Aug 19, 2005 08:45 PM  Permalink

A few years ago i had heard from a Military
Intelligence officer of Indian army who had been
posted to North east that our border with Bangladesh
was porous and dangerous. He said corruption was
rampant. Each post (BSF post or may be army post) had
a fixed quota of money that it had to give its higher
ups every month. Any thing the post incharge and staff
made over and above (the amount sent to higher ups)
was theirs. The officer concerned was disgusted with
the state of affairs and wanted to resign to start a
small low investment low glamour low grade business.

Also over a decade ago I lived in Bangladesh for
several months. I could see the strong influence of
Pakistan and China in Bangladesh. india was hated by
most people i met.

Here it is important to remember that while our
politicians and bureaucrats (civil and military both
types) have been busy looting the nations wealth,
China has encircled India from all sides - central
asian republics, pakistan, bangladesh and myanmar are
strong outposts of china.

Legitamacy to terrorism
by Vikas Khandekar on Aug 19, 2005 05:53 PM  Permalink

India provided legitimacy to terrorism, when during the freedom struggle, it acceded to Jinnah's and his likes' "terrorism" of threatening with a civil war, if India didn't agree for Partition. Alas ! Gandhiji and Nehru did not know how to deal with such terrorism, and the damage was done. Now we have two nations (Pakistan and Bangladesh) in the sub-continent borne out of terrorism, thus providing legitimacy to terrorism as a means to achieve one's means.

Hindus in bangladesh, pakistan and other nations
by venkata narayanan on Aug 17, 2005 01:32 PM  Permalink

This is in reference to the serial blast at dhaka. were so many innocent lives have lost. And the institution which had done this is going to claim in any name as inequality, social justice, religion etc., but the crude reality is human lives are choped and buried for different reasons.
The ancilliary articles in the rediff was that the hindu were treated so inhuman way in other part of the country. It has become a vote bank for Indian parlimentarian to talk and act depending upon time keeping the election date in mind cutting across party lines.
Leaders talk about radical thinking and secularism only to hindu majorities in India. And they talk about electing a Muslim C.M in Bihar, creating special sanctions for Muslims in A.P and some stupid idealogy of Ex-C.M attending Iftar parties and discuss about secularism.
The one party which Hindus had some faith and belief in their thought was B.J.P, but getting into trouble because of their indiscipline in the rank and file
