President's Clear Thinking
by Giri Girishankar on Aug 15, 2005 03:52 AM  Permalink

This is truly an inspiring speech providing a clear vision to the nation and exhorting the political and industry leaders and technologists to work for energy security transitioning to total energy independence. That portion of his speech dealing with Solar Farms and the Use of Bio-fuels addresses two of the potential means of achieving energy independence while at the same time showing great consideration for the rural masses of the country and how they could contribute to and benefit by them. President Kalams prescriptions are specific and goal oriented in contrast with the Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme proposed by the UPA. The latter smacks of a politically oriented program with no specificity and definition in respect of the projects that it will comprise, but all the potential of pork to the party workers.

It will be a great day when India will start relying more on experts with knowledge and clear thinking than on deceptive politicians.

Prez's I - Day speech to Nation
by K.Nagarajan on Aug 15, 2005 01:13 AM  Permalink

Truly a great Vision.

Especially, Bio Fuel technology can generate a number of critically needed Rural Jobs as well.

Political leadership of all walk should embrace this vision and translate this in to an Implementable action plan.

Just a thought!. In many other countries, Environmental Science is a Compulsary subject in schools. Can we include in our schools. Prez's vision statements can also be a part of Non detailed subjects currently available in our education system.

Getting these messages across to the younger generation is key for furture Nation buliding.

Application Oriented
by Deepak on Aug 14, 2005 10:15 PM  Permalink

That was a very application oriented speech!!! Thats what we need in the age of big talks and zero activity. We have all the information and technology but we also have the inactiveness of not implementing them. One very impressive idea was building underground water tunnel. Most people think about implementing underground railway systems or Metros but few dare to think about such simple ideas as underground tunnels which has greater benefits to the common man who is always the first to be affected due to floods and water shortages.

I am happy that we have two simple thinkers sitting at the highest post in India and trying to get many useful things for the common man.
