Dr Kalam has shown several graphics/barcharts/tables etc during his address. If these can be added to the text, the contents will be of great reference value.
Such constructive vision is what we need all the time as we march on. Indian student community world wide and our teaching community in the country is bound to benefit immensely with such concrete plans and food for thought. The speech of the Honourable President has powerful and meaningful ingredients for our nation building enterprise.
Our President's call is timely.Reliable renewable energy systems can be provided by multiple source integration. A system with hydroelectric power as a major integrating technology can be designed using the storage provided by the water dammed behind the turbine. Wind and/or solar systems can be used to complement the hydroelectric plant in periods of low water storage.
In summer, ample amounts of wind and sunlight exist in several sites so that wind/solar power is used to pump back the limited water flow, thereby increasing the turbine output or to electrically augment the low hydroelectric generator output, resulting from reduced flows. This will stabilize the output power to the grid. A combination in the rest of the year will provide dependable electric power generation for base load on a year round basis.
Countries such as the Netherlands, Denmark and Germany (where the ambient temperature hardly reaches 25 degrees Celsius) have successfully established power generating biogas plants. R & D efforts should concentrate on using abundant water hyacinth weed(which has become a menace) along with animal dung in power generation.
There have been few presidents who have such a deep insight into our nations future requirements and the path to be followed for it's well being. We are indeed extremely lucky to have him as our Head of State.
Instead of brushing aside his views just like any other routine Independence Day address, people at the helm should take cognizance of the wisdom and initiate measures to achieve the goals.
However, I could not help observe a small anomaly in the address itself.....
Prez signed off and I quote him " God Bless You All"......wouldn't "God bless Us All" have been more appropriate?
A most thought-provoking, highly sincere, and well-thought-out speech from-the-bottom-of-the heart of a noble-minded patriot. How totally unlike most of those which we are always used to! They would be either rabble-rousing, sabre-rattling, or stage-managed or even inclusive of all these qualities. It is my dear wish all those at the helms of power and also every citizen reads this speech, deeply ponders over the points highlighted and take right steps to the attain the goals. V.Shrinivas
The government should think of subsidizing the solar powered lights, fans etc., to make sure every home has a solar lamp and fan which could be used by charging them appropriatley while we have sun. This will allow the local governments to plan load shedding which in turn could make sure the power consumption is reduced. The public will not complain as they already has the light and the fan which are the basic needs everybody will fight for!
Our President Dr.Adbul Kalam's speech is one of the compelling and motivating speech.
Unfortunately, our President's I-Day Speech was not telecasted live in any channel. The National channel were showing the hindi version of the speech, but we couldn't get to hear our President's direct speech.
Hope we could bring it to the concerned people's attention the importance and also enough coverage by all channels to show the live coverage of President and Prime Minister's speech to the people of India.
Inspiration leads to ideas good that we have a man full of ideas inspiring us. Its a blessing to our nation that we have a inspiring and amicable personal to lead us from front. So lets take a leaf out of his speech and contribute to the attainment of energy independence.
Wish you all a very happy independence day. JAI HIND. Chaitanya.Bathina
