Absurd
by Rajib Singha on Aug 21, 2005 04:07 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Sir, Mr Vijay Dandapani's article smacks of ignorance and communalism. Its would have been better if he had

qouted the word "Minorities" instead of repeatedly stressing on "Hindus". There is no doubt numerous incidents

on the attacks on Minorities in the states quoted by the author. But the issue is not about only Hindus and

Muslims. Even today growing tensions between states bring countless miseries to migrants. Otherwise one could

not explain why sikhs were killed and temples were torched in a superlative state of USA post 9/11, and similar

attacks on Hindus and Sikhs besides innocent Muslims in UK post the london tube blasts. I guess these cannot

be said as not being Human Rights violation!. When we come to the South Asian perspective the disturbed

relations of origin continue to mask and manifest in diffrent forms. The 'not-so-friendly' relations among India,

Pakistan and Bangladesh, often catapult the lives of religious and linguistic minorities to fire. And that has been

the sole reason for such misgivings. So sort out the diffrences politically, build and enforce CBM's and then we

can expect a miracle !

Avoid provocative reporting!
by B.Gautam on Aug 20, 2005 01:26 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The role of media is extremely sensitive that needs much of application of mind to skillfully report any matter! The repercussions go a long way in welfare of the country. Such reporting should reflect a civilized culture that will go with change of time and development. It should result ultimately in the interest of human welfare.
Man, in his pursuit of search for life from elsewhere, ready to embrace one from a galaxy light years away, is prepared to lose few lives and property too! These are high ideals and broad out looks, he carries in this 21st century!
Can reporting afford to widen disparities between two communities, especially when entire world faces a grave situation of violence and crime? Reporting, as I said earlier , needs to be healthy! It should aspire to unite and patch up rather than widen cracks.
Provocative reporting should be entirely avoided as it encourages violence. Media should never copy other nations as it should be original, retaining in mind, welfare of humanity in relevance to situations in our country. After all, life is same in its every form, as in fact, it is human who tampered to artificially differentiate amidst humanity!
By skilled reporting news can therefore be conveyed to avoid widening of rifts!

Reporting facts is not reporting wrong
if the people being killed are hindus, it has to reported cuz i want to know who these "minorities" are.
when islamic world is agitating against cartoons of mumammed, do u think reporting them as mumammed was wrong?

Its surprizing that some sikhs r shouting on hindu-sikhs riots!!! Just to make u aware, if sikhs were targated in delhi, etc., hindus were also targated/killed in whole punjab. many hindus were also killed in punjab. Even sikhs know this fact, but they wont express it ever!!! Thats strange!
