I have been residing outside the country for almost three years and in this time I see that India has changed a lot. I feel proud that my country is progressing so well. A lot still needs to be done though. Living in the United States has brought in many behaviarl changes in me. I truly recognize the meaning of the phrase 'When in Rome, be a Roman'. I am an environmental engineer by profession and feel very bad when the basic amenities are lacking aplentiful. Though nuclear tehcnology and advancements are definitely needed for a growing economy like ours, simple steps like keeping the society we live and the environment clean doesnt really warrant much. Though corruption is existent in advanced countries too, it manifests itself in the open in country like India. This is evident form the pathetic response evoked from the politicians. Sitting in the cosy chambers of the Mantralaya, its disgusting to see the response mechanism of our politicians. A lot needs to be done before we can even come close to realize our dream of being a world beater. Actions need to speak instead of words from the hollow mouth a politician. I feel its time to buck up now and take charge.
I think we need somebody like Hitler who has done lot many improvements in Germany after World War I. I think we should learn from these experiences that no one from current leaders will help us. In current scenario, our country needs some kind of discipline. I don't know who all are agreeing with me.
I have read all messages from co-mumbaikars and co-indian firends. I agree that the governement needs to do a lot of adminitrative changes to the city, it needs a disaster management and a disaster recovery system. But, there are a lot many things that we can do as mumbaikars.
1. Educating the people around you on hygiene and cleanliness, the importance of drainage system.
2. Forming a neighbourhood watch, making sure there are no illegal constructions, that there are no open drains, the trash bins are closed. (stray dogs are a major issue, thanks to menaka gandhi). This neighbourhood watch cell should be like a civic police monitoring the neighbourhood for civic crimes like littering and unhygiene. United we stand, divided we fall.
3.Educating the slums on the importance of getting pakka house from buliders, rather than keeping their huts.
The government has to think of bigger issues, like water resource management.every year we have floods in one part, while drought in other. if only we could somehow make a canal that could carry the flood waters to a central reservoir, which can then redistributed to areas which don't have irrigation water, like a blood bank.
this is the first time that the mumbaikars have realised what the countrymen go through.
for you drought in rajasthan, famine in orrisa, and floods in assam is just a news ,you have never stopped partiyng .
since independence people from your land has corrupted the goverance and produced pliable officers. you have constructed highrise buildings irrespective of congestion, and pollution. let us not foget that responsibility of ills of country lie on the 5% of us who have had the best after indepdence. we have collectively distorted the vision of our founding fathers.
I agree we do not required govtt. the politician is not doing any work for public and taking benifit from our tax, while common people are suffing much more. The pilitician is ruling us by dividing people in caste and religion. except this they does not think more for people.
This whole country become lowless, in any city of india there is not good food, no good water, no good education and not safety to people for which we all people of all caste and religian has to united and fight against politician.
Can we have a underground drainage system in Main cities of the nation and connect it to suburbs and get rid of these floods.....little over enthusiastic but still it works with proper planning and same enthusiasm from the Govt Of India......Its not those Impossible tasks though.
