The force with which Mr.Shenoy drafted his mail show how vehememt he is and the extent of mental pain he has sustained looking at the plight of mumbaikar on the 26th Aug, I am one of those most unfortunate soul who has had the harrowing experience minced with nightmare. It was an hair raising experience which I feel even the worst enemy of mine should not undergo.The politicians always remember Mr.Common man once in five years only.This is a case of fate accompli, let us not put up with such aparthy and keep quiet. Think of sustaining such eventualities without anybody's help. Let us do by ourselves.
Great article!! Couldn't agree with you more. This i-want-your-money-but-i-won't-care-a-damn-for-you attitude of ministers towards cities like Mumbai and Bangalore is horrible. Let these cities manage temselves, if not anything it'll be better than the exiistng situation.
India,always be known only for its 3Ps-population poverty and pollution. everyones moving ahead but we are still stuck with uneducatd mantris. If lalu can be a railminister in india, anything is possible here. I have been born and brought up in Mumbai. for past 27 yrs it has alwayed rained heavily in mumbai and the city has come to a halt.but for all these years nothing has changed. the same people shit on tracks, the same slums r there, and every monsoon the gutters are full and trains stop.many governments changed, mantris became corepattis, but the common man has been in the same state as he was. mumbai pays 58000 crore as taxes. i support what Pritish nandy said in his article in the times of india, All mumbaikars should stop paying taxes and make their presence felt, make the government realise without mumbai they cant do a thing. mumbai should be granted independent status the the dreams of the dreaming mantris will come true to make mumbai into singapore.create somekind of a system which checks illegal settlements in mumbai. its time all mumbaikars join hands and show the middle finger to the centre and state government and do the needfull themselves for themselves.
What Mr. Shennoy is proposing is rediculous. He himself is advocating to keep Mumbai out of politics and on the next side he is proposing statehood idea. Its just a part of great conspirancey against Maharashtra and its peoples. Why don't you stop people from other states? Why don't you ask backward states like Bihar,U.P. not to put burden on Maharashtra??? Mr.Shennoy solution is not to keep Mumbai seperate but to draft a comprehensive polocy for Mumbai.
the article made great reading. and i do hope people take some lessons from it but the author had gone ahead a whole month... the dates are mentioned as aug 26, aug 30... i guess no mumbaikar can forget the date JULY 26, 2005
