Dear Shenoi I Feel sorry! You are just thinking of Mumbai! Are you aware, rest of Maharashtra also suffered during the period. So according to you let them go to hell but only yourself and selfish people like you should get best. But sir we are the people born and brought up in Mumbai- its like our mother will never think this selfish way. And sir on July 26 we also walked for 22 hours to reach home. But cant think the selfish way you can think. Remember Maharashtra has done a lot for the Mumbai and Mumbai city has returned back the same to them. Mumbai is Maharashtras heart.Dont kill the state by removing its heart. And todays problem is not their fault. Few political leaders, central govt, builders lobby and influx from all India (reasons well known) are also to be blamed for Mumbai's deterioration. so think possitive and of rest of maharashtra also.Let us join hands to see that the entire state improve in all respect.
I do agree 100 % on Shenoy's opinion. Just by mere agreeing will not do good to Mumbai. Some steps has to be taken...or soon the Mumbai may not be the same financial capital as it is today...
I agree with Mr Shenoy at all points except one that Mumbai contibutes Rs 50000 cr tax but gets only ine percent. This tax is paid on the amount collected from all over India, because most of the companies have headquarter at Mumbai. This money belongs to people of all India and not only Mumbai. But, yes, Mumbai still needs more investment in its infrastructure.
Very good topic. But all of you make sure that mumbai is a capital of maharastra and will be till iternity. Infact city and and its fighter people can make it capital of india or capital of world. Tell me in these tragic days also people of mumbai has shown fight that will not be shown by any city. Please as a mumbaikar, i donot want mumbai to be shanghai etc, please. Make it Better Mumbai. Thats it. Please help us to live better, if you know that we have dianasourus share in finance of city and world too(lions share will feel it very small).
Please we didnt expect anything from you people since its delhi, kolcatta, chennai, banglore, hydrabad etc will get lots of money but we will be always in waiting. I am not cursing any city, please note. Thease are all imp cities but i think investment made in delhi train service which has rare pessanger, if money was given to mumbai to add 5th and 6th track from cst to kalyan that would have made us feel great nothing else.
It's been devastating to see the pathetic condition of Mumbai invaded by a deadly activity of nature. Mumbai is pride of India in terms getting compared with the likes of Hong Kong etc. It's chipped in huge amount of revenue to our country, giving shetler to people who want to earn and strive from various parts of India. Though, born and brought up in Chennai, Mumbai has always been my second home. My heart was at pains; tears rolling down my eyes on reading the news about the havoc in the city and looking at the pictures; whilst enjoying the earthquakes sitting in a multi-storied building in Tokyo.
We all (Indians) need to collect together and raise our shoulders morally and physically to help the people of Mumbai overcome the water impact.
As right pointed out by leading experts, it's high the big bosses of India consider a statehood for Mumbai.

This article is an apt description of the current state of Mumbai. The idea of allowing Mumbai to govern itself is a necessary change. Even though Mumbai is called the 'City for the rich and poor' sadly it fails to satisfy either of them due to the ever existing imbabalance in power.
