Pay your taxes - all business community
by Faiyaz Pawaney on Aug 03, 2005 01:21 PM  Permalink

What happened is complete revelation of the infrastructure created by taxes of few handful of middle class salaried people in the city. The same applies for the entire country.

Mumbai rains demolished to a great extent lots of shops and business facilities in low lying areas. These people hardly ever paid taxes or saw to it that they would pay meagre taxes compared to salaried class people. Do not blame anybody but look within yourself and see whether did you do things the right way. Government is reflection of the kind of ethics and culture we have in our society. Government is nothing but all of us doing job in Civic authorities. Each one of us would do the same thing what people in government are doing right now.

The result is simple and the outcome was the wrath of nature to be faced by everybody innocent and the wrong doers due to failure of every individual.

Even now if everybody starts paying their taxes properly and show professionalism in work(especially govt employees) would solve lot of problems in India.

It is easy to blame the government without doing our own homework. But everybody should really ask themselves as who is to be blamed for all this.

Dont blame Mumbaikars
by Pranay on Aug 03, 2005 12:54 PM  Permalink

Sir, I firmly believe not to blame mumbaikars. Yes, true mumbaikars....if u wish to blame, blame the crowd which is continously comming and happily living on the foothpaths. Here again the finger points to the government. What was it doing when the slums were raised illegaly. A mumbaikar had already forseen this problem but alas the government did not.

Till this day, slum people and their children are happlily using the foothpaths and other places as their living room and since obvious there is no proper drainage system in their slum (?), they continue littering the roads.

I think Government should first take action and I mean ACTION on these illegal slums and stop blaming the we true Mumbaikars. I hope government is not thinking of making those slums legal!
