Before telling anything about mumbai rain disaster, I would like to appreciate all mumbaikars for helping themselves in this disaster. Yes, we should not blame rain. If city infrastructure was planned and developed properly, we could have prevented this disaster. For this whom should we blame? definitely the govt. officers and most important politicians who always think for vote bank. Am I right? If you think I am wrong, please excuse me. Lets wakeup Indians, now onwards we should choose the right person as our political leader. Choosing a leader does not end citizens duty, we should make sure that leaders work proeprly. What we can do is at least try to bring the all illegal events, issues and unwanted stuff that harm us to public notice and try to educate people about the right thing. Cheers to mumbaikars for their outstanding courage during this disaster.
Its quite common to hear the pounding attacks from either side, First of all we never had any infrastructure so forget about loosing anything. What have been lost are all poor man's hopes.
Why blame any natural cause aftermath? We are the honest tax payers to the country, and we loose the most for mere reason: being honest. The only people to blame are our leaders whom we elect. Considerable chunk of innocent human & animal lives have been lost just because these govt orgz did not do their basic duty. Gosh! We pay these people for not doing their job.
If we go in the below order, then even if one department fails the other can cover up till the first one wakes up,
-MET dept. should have warn of heavy rains?
-Transport dept. should have warn for congestion?
Stop movement of private vehicles and allow govt vehicles to move freely for relief & rescue work.
-Evacuation of innocent lives?
-BMC dept then to act efficiently to clear the debris?
-Disaster Management (if we have any?)
Public warning systems not public panic systems, Shut off the media (who just wants to earn quick TRPs). Just put radio online. For heaven sake we dont want to see people dying on TV sets.
It is common knowledge people come to Metro Cities from small cities and even villages for work. No one can stop that. The cause of the problem last week was mostly because of population of Bombay which is impossible for any Government to handle. I am not praising the Government or letting them off. If the city is expanded right upto Pune on one side, Alibag to the other side and Nasik on the third side and equal job opportunities available there as just in Bombay then I think the population will get divided and much better chances to administer.
Same should be done in case of Delhi, Chennai and Kolkatta not to speak of the other big cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow etc. etc. One could include cities like Nasik, Pune and even Alibag in Bombay metro and good opportunity given to people within this area.
Second there should be NGO in every area within a distance of 500 metres having common dress with badges so that in times of need they can help out people. These NGO should have a place prominently displaced where all information is available regarding water/flood situation etc.
Its all about planning by the Govt. For instance take the railway track. It goes for miles and miles and covers places. The same way, the GOVT should plan and execute building gaint pipelines connecting all places and rivers across the country. By which, the situation like the Mumbai's can be prevented and also the situation like chennai's / Andra's shall be avoided (by distributing water across India).
hold the officials responsible. if mumbaities complain they want want more grant they are wrong. they need the grant alright - but only if they ensure its right usage. or else this will be massive excuse for the politicians to majorly pilfer more money!!!! if mumbai folks complain abt no grants - i am extremely sorry to say this. "you are squarely responsible for your current state". if you guys need some better amenities, make the government work for it. go after errant electricity officials, munipal authorities, cops, administrative people. dont vote for the more corrupt, vote for whoever's the better choice. do anything and everything possible by any and everyone!
Human life is very important. We see many stories on Discovery Channel and other for the heroic rescue operations being carried out by US, Europe and Other countries.
Why people in Mumbai and Maharashtra have not been given the same treatment as that of ONGC enployees?
300 lives on ONGC rig was saved by the Navy and other agencies. Salute to them!
Why these engencie's expertise had not been used to air drop the cammandos, inflatable boats, food, Water, Medicin supplies to parts of Mahad, Badlapur, Kalyan etc ?
If Prime Minister can do the Aerial Survey, why not use those same facilities to save lives?
Coast Guard and Navy has Amphibius Vehicals and Speed boats and Hovercrafts, what is the use of such a sophisticated equipments if you can not save lives of people.
Presence of Mind, Sense of Urgency, Logistics and Resorce Mobilisation are some of the things that the successive governments are missing.
Same has happened in Gujarat, when 300 people were trapped in train why not use Aerial route to rescue the people, at least provide essencial goods so that they survive!
What a pity! What a pity!! that we have such people ruling us.
