Present Law has very serious limitations. The democratic laws of our country and the system which enforces the same seems prove threat for the entire society. The kind of insecure feelings in the minds of members of the society would now lead to anarchy. Police, politicians and Judiciary all are loosing respect and value. Otherwise, how dare such person can act, shamelessly? We need to first change the law makers then the laws and then the enforcing system which is proved completely useless. This is one of the most dengerous signals and forewarning. If we fail to understand clearly then results in to a social sabotage.

This is a act now publiclly known. It would be important to know now the action by our leagal & enforcement systems to act against such henious crime. The systems should be strong and true to understand and meet the present needs of time. To be very fast, bold and provide with very rigoruous sentence. Or else can go only be shameless, allowing non-sence debates on the family, his cast, his pregnant wife..etc. and what not. Even if the person be publiclly hanged no one shall have any reservations. That will save many such trajicks for many of our daughters, mothers and wives. Also, the number of cops could be recruted can get greatly reduced and the burden on our tax revenue will be less. we donot need such a criminals to be fed officially(paying salaries).
feel very sorry about this stupit act of this cop. if the person who are appointed to see that there is no crime and they themself do the crime., God only knows where our country will end up. As it is they are corrupt & now they are openly doing the acts of a hard core criminal & that too in a police chowky. I think the govt on suo moto should take strict action against this & man should be put behind bars for life.
This is so disguisting anyway people dont have any hope or turst in cops& this is the ultimate act a cop could do & the Mr. Javed The Joint Commisioner is saying that the Sunil More will be suspended thats it what about him getting punishment for the horriblecrime committed or it will be as usual kept under wraps. Ithink its high time the public take notice of all these acts. I am never going to trust any cop in my life.
I suppose it is a crime to be born a woman. I cannot walk down a road without being pinched, rubbed against or be made to hear disgusting, lewd comments. I really am speechless to know that the cop, upholder of the law etc, could actually rape a young girl in the middle of the afternoon in a police chowky located in one of the most busiest areas of Mumbai. Such incidents absolutely make me want to tell the police force and the citizens of Maharashtra to take a reality check and instead of worrying about the status of dance bars and other trivial issues, to look within their own organizations and do something about the terrible status of things. Absolutely shameful. We have a long, long way to go before we even come a fourth close to what cities like Shangai or New York are.

I have been in Mumbai for more than 10 years, and am shocked at the news of rape by policeman. And even more shocking is the what the author has written here about eve teasing. Pinching and other forms of eve teasing was unheard of in Mumbai a few years back. Some isolated cases must have been there, but by and large women felt safe walking out even at late nights. I have seen single woman walking at 1.30 night on the road. Compared to that woman in Delhi dont dare move out alone after even 8 PM. But if the author is true about mumbai then its serious and needs urgent attention. Police ofcourse needs to look in house and instead of giving excuses of VIP duties etc, they need to do something concrete.

I think you are absolutely correct. Even though I am a male,I am always concerned about my sister and friends. Sincerely i think every girl in India should have a gun. Just shoot off anybody who tries to assault you.
This is pathetic. The Mumbai police should also do a psychological evaluation of their recruits along with physicl fitness etc. And it should be an ongoing process. One can only hope that the guilty cop is not only removed from service but also severely punished. It is essential and vital for the Indian Soceity in general and Bombayites in particular that this case is followed to its logical conclusion. One can only hope that the rapist is convicted. I pray to the media and rediff to keep us updated on this even if it is more than a year or ten years and continously focus attention on this issue.
