musharaf
by shankar on Apr 23, 2005 09:34 PM  Permalink

the author of this aticle is either himself naive or disoriented, or biassed.

he thinks that indian politicians are naive or fooled by musharaf pakistan etc. i do not agree with this at all.

agree, few occassiona indian did believe pakistanis and paid the price like indo-china war, kargil etc, but except those few occassions other times indian politicians, or political leaders like PMs presidents etc are not naive. they are just cunning or very shrewd politicians that is all. they have their political reasons to act naive. the author thinks every indian thinks like him but he doesn't understand or know that there are lot of indians like our politicians bending infront of paki leaders. these people's vote counts a lot. and our shrewd political leaders gain far more by surrendering or licking paki leaders than by counter attacking them.

indians politicians are shrewd and quickly understand once they get power that it is better to do what they have been doing which looks silly and stupid to people like us and our author here but looks great to many other people in india and abroad including powerful countries like US and China.

i feel ashamed!!
by vikas bhartiya on Apr 23, 2005 06:50 PM  Permalink

The article surely depicts what almost all of India can see except our polticians. During all this drama of peace peace and peace during the recent visit of the autocrat known as President Musharraf, it could clearly be seen that it was he who won all the accolades for having initiated a peace process. News papers showed us his photographs coming out after prayers, with headlines like:PRAYING FOR PEACE, how can anyone forget that this same person was responsible for the Kargil war which took lives of hundreds of our soldiers, the Martyr's life has little value in this country it seems, I am ashamed we haven't been able to produce a single leader who could do things differently.
The title of the article was catchy and aptly chosen, couldn't stop myself from writing this stuff after reading it. My thanks to the author.

India - Pak: Same Old story
by JK on Apr 23, 2005 03:58 PM  Permalink

I agree with the contents of the Column and disagree with the columnist's deprecatory tone. I agree that Indian leaders have always been reactive. Being in a democratic set-up with opposition and critics attacking them all the time even at the expense of national security, and being still in the kurta culture amidst modern nations making it difficult for them to be liked internationally, they are severely handicapped. Pakistan, on the contrary, has had a dictatorship culture (even when elected govts were in power) and they are good at PR with global leaders. It is high time that our politicians switch over to proper sartorial habits and appear clean and well-groomed (like the Chines who have shifted from shabby Mao suits to modern Saville Row suits) so that international leaders will be comfortable with them, and our opposition and critiques (like our Columnist)be more restrained and mature in their criticisms affecting national security and foreign relations.

Sir, a nicely written fact file for those in the know. I wish we could act like Israelis who are fierce in their acts against their country and don't care much about what int'l community has to say. They would have wiped Pakis from the face of the earth by now if they had done the same to them. There are people in India who would gladly do so (me included) but sadly they dont make decisions, politicians do.

@Raja --> Whatever good/bad our politicians do, they know the moment they yield on Kashmir, they'll lose power, seats and their pants. Considering our politicians attitude, they'll never let go off their power and seats. Goodnight, sleep tight and dream on..
