Whatever the situation..........we must be in driving seat....
by santosh on Apr 22, 2005 12:11 PM  Permalink

Mr. Shenoy, it is very sure that there is a invisible hand in ongoing peace talks. But what needs to be discussed our position in this? At last war/peace talks/tratise is only politics and those who are in driving seat can get wat they want. And the kind of peace talks are, are surely not gestures, but it is part of ongoing (long)process. And important is find out.....who is driver? only INDIA or INDIA & US or Mushrraf & US or only US.

The allusion is Biblical. (Also, Eliot said that the stanza was inspired by an account of an early polar expedition. The Upanishadic verses occur right at the end, not here.

Impressive analysis
by Ullas on Apr 22, 2005 08:26 AM  Permalink

The author has really done a good job and needs an applause here. The carefull anaysis indeed tells us that we need a more 'OPEN' pakistan to even begin the real talks and summits(what happened now could have been done at far lower rankings. The PM and the General didn't have to meet 3 times in 3 days for this). As it has happened before we need more proof that this time 'pak' is genuine in its intentions. Initiating a conversation just because the 'Big B' (America...who else) says so is not going to work. ARE YOU REALLY INTERESTED IN PEACE AND IN BUILDING A RELATIONSHIP WITH US MR. PRESIDENT? is my (like many Indians)question to Gen Musharaf

The World vs India
by Pretty on Apr 22, 2005 12:05 AM  Permalink

The written article is superb and has nailed the situation existing
currently. Here are a few of my questions that one can ponder over....

When Iraq invaded Kuwait - who came to their rescue ?
USA
When they wanted to wash out Saddam Hussain -
Us vaged a war with a weak coalition from other countries.
They also backed cause in Afghanisthan.

But when a part of India has been occupied by another country what
is happening other than "PEACE TALKS"

No one seems to even remotely consider that Pakistan's actions are
wrong
Is everyone blind? It has been years and nothing has happened. In fact
the maps of world have been changed....

Here is another thing that I personally noticed - people of US dont
care /are not aware of what is happening in the world unless they
have been in a way related to the army.
But their government is extremely strong.

People of India are pretty anxious and are aggressive but the
government is preventing them from doing so....

Clouds...
by Anilkumar on Apr 21, 2005 11:34 PM  Permalink

Now I am in black cloud. TVR Shenoy has fully last hist plot. I am sure it is a difficult subject, atleast tell us now what you are trying to convey. Do want to say "All that is happening is just gesture and we will not move on the issue of Kashmir". Or Are you trying to tell us that "This is all Hoax". Come on clear up the mess.
