Mr. Gupta, you are right. How much differences may exist among the various constituents of the Sangh Parivar, they are still one family based on hatred toward non-Hindus, believing in the medieval theory of Hindi-Hindu-Hindustan, theory that India is a Hindu homogeneous country! Therefore, they'd always be together at the end of the day. That doesn't surprise many although. On the other hand, other political parties also have not done much for the poor, downtrodden society of India. They didn't do enough to uphold the law of the country, they couldn't provide much justice to many atrocities perpetrated against the non-Hindu Indians! And there exists the opportunity why the Sangh Parivar would survive in long time to come--it would still be a force for years to come. So, these media speculation of BJP, RSS, VHP falling apart etc. should NOT be considered seriously.
Whatever shortcoming are being faced by BJP, is not a problem of BJP alone. You have highloghted the symptoms only. The desease is something different. All parties are suffering from the same desease and that is feudalism. We are still a long way to come out from our feudal mindset. If one has to interact with people in a small town or a village, it is very apparent. Congrss is the only party to understand this and that is why they are still clinging to the age old "KARTA" culture by clinging to one family. It may sound bad; but that is the fact of life. The advantage that BJP enjoyed so long was because of its two top leaders, who were as good as "KARTAS". But now they are in their sunset years and unlike Nehru, none of the two have a son or a daughter to lead the party. If suddenly, these two are removed from the scene, BJP's woes will be enormous and it is bound to shrink into a small party. BJP has already entered into a crisis as it seems they are running out of ideas. As a result, they are falling back on Hindutva, Sonia Gandhi's origin and anti congressism. Unlee BJP gets over this, India may go back to single party rule by congress. Regards.
There is a deeper message in all this analysis for columnists like Kanchan Gupta, Swapan Dasgupta, Rajeev Srinivasan et al; who all have attempted to be the sangha parivaar's unpaid mouthpieces on the Net.
You can fool some of the people all of the time with your diatribes against the Congress, Sonia, pinkos, leftists, pseudo-seculars etc. etc, and endless amount of argumentum ad verecundium(s) with a lot of phoney research and references thrown in to establish your own credentials. But in the end, a significant lot would see thru the Parivaar inspired hype and throw the BJP and the RSS back where they rightly belong - in the trash can.
Another excellent article from Rajeev Srinivasan. BY their thoughtless actions, UPA government will bring irreversible damage to the country. Watch the current euphoria over the India-China accord.
Hallo Mr.Gupta, Your article has indeed made good analysis. But one point has been forgotten by you.And that is "Democracy".The true spirit of democracy should show difference in opinions or priorities. So one should praise BJP that party memebers had right to voice out their differences with the adopted resolutions rather than other parties like congress or AIDMK, DMK or BSP where all have to stop even expressing any difference in opinion with teh high command. Also one more point is BJP needs now really good political course of future action along with the committed group of leaders who can take care of partyand party cadres.
