Musharraf has scored a big point, by visiting India and getting "warm" welcome officially, religiously, and socially. Which dictator can have such a reception? And remember, he is the dictator who is responsible for the death of thousands of Indian soldiers in the Kargil war and for innocent Indians at the hands of militants who were exported from his country in clandestine manner. It is a shame that our people and leaders should shake his blood-stained hands and get lost in his misleading smiles.
Sir reading your article has propped many questions in my mind. Is it your faulty language or misconcieved inherant believes?! Who has asked prez to be "under" usa influence. Isn't it only to belittle india. No wonder the writer speaks of pakistan and kashmir in same breath. Where are the original kashmiris left? Whose cause is pakistan sporting by "not betraying kashmiris and kashmiri cause". It is pakistan's cause and not kashmirs. "He is taking indian help for same!!!" but it is already our problem and we are taking his help cause pakistanis are infiltrating....
I fail to understand why our Govt is allowing him to call and meet Kashmiri ultras? He has been getting his way by all these pregnant plans and it seems that Govt is just falling in line with this. He declared his plans to meet the Hurriyat before even discussing this with India and Govt endorsed it!! Don't we remember what this guy did in Agra? He has least amount of respect for any protocol and I think that Govt should make sure that he remains within limits of an official visitor.
If only the actions from the friendly neighbor were so rational as to take into account education and health services, there would not have been 3 wars and 5 decades. And the most important fact has been brushed under the carpet - Pakistani rulers dont follow the agreements signed by their predecessors. The bilateral agreemnts have a lifespan which is exactly equal or less than that of the duration of his/her rule. Mr.Mir wants India to forget these historical facts.
Lets hope for the best and give peace another chance, nothing could be more beneficial than peace between the two countries.
Musharraf have to understand that British and western who break India in order to create Pakistan. Today Pakistan stuck under American influence. F-16s sell show how American using Pakistan to save 5,000 of American jobs and at same time American want to F-16s to India. So who benefit from this break off, the American and the British.
Musharraf look around, the solution is Pakistan become one the India state. This will solve the Kashmir problem, clear all foreigners from Pakistan and move forward to clear poverty.
This is just rubbish. Pakistan is just like the tail of the dog. You cannot bend it. Pakistan was formed, existed for so long, and will exist so long as it can loath and bleed India. If that was not the case, kargil wouldn't happen. And I dont believe Musharraf is serious about anything else than keeping him the absolute monarch of Pakistan. That's common to all previous Pakistani generals and will always be the same. India should always remember this along with all the bonhomie that it "needs" to put forward vis-a-vis pakistan
You have to ask Americans or Britishers what Musharraf is going to do or talk next. He represents their stinking strategy for this part of the world. Otherwise, what is his intrinsic strength? Making Bin Laden a hero and then an arch villian is part of his craft. Sourcing nuclear technology worldwide and then pinning the entire blame on Khan is again a part of his cunning craft. Mutually agreeing not to disturb Dr.Khan is again a part of his no fooling craft. Giving all material and ideological support to carpet weavers combine of Kashmir under the brand name Hurriyat is again a part of his craft. Then on top of it, fearlessly meeting his "weavers" in the national capital is again part of his sick craft. British High Commissioner is already busy weaving another web in Srinagar. Our leaders kidney capacity must be appreciated. I think they are also looking for some "new approach".
My sincere request to the Indian government to not bow down to any unrealistic demands.
Firstly, I do not see any reason for involving pakistan to discuss Kashmir. That itself is like accepting that it's a disputed territory. Let there be no doubt, that Kashmir is an integral part of India. There's no end to the aspirations of the 'Muslim league' mentality which divided the country in the first place.
I sincerely request, the indian prime minister and diplomats involved in the peace initiatives, to bargain from a position of strength, discuss only end to terrorism in the valley and not sing to the tunes of the US or Musharraf.
It's high time, the US is shown it's place and not to take us for granted.
Where, as Indian citizens, we welcome pakistani people with all heart. After all, they are from the same land and are like brothers. But, the hawks should not take and advantage of this situation and also not see this as weakness.
To summarise, we should treat pakistan as our sibling born out of India. Give them goodies, as long as they behave themselves. If not, rap them on the knuckles to discipline them.
They dont show gratitude for giving them identity as Nation.
