once a hero-always a hero
by sarvajna on May 10, 2005 07:56 PM  Permalink

in india any one can become an instant secularist/thinker like the instant coffee just by bashing hindu organisations.and it seems Amulya ganguly is from that bandwagon.for these chemeleons of the west who have been doing these selective approoches only to be recognised and invited there and here for debates, write columns etc.besides that they are only like the fat frgs in a well.i want ganguly who has lot of concerns for the one siders(mainly the muslims and christians of india) should visit the kiths and kins of the families of the godhra massacre-the hindus who were burnt alive, the kashmiri innocent hindu pandits tortured and killed by the pakistani abbetted terrorists, the victims of the bombay bomb blasts, the innocents killed by christan missionery sponsored terrorists of the nort-east india before calling oneself secular.a true secular person will be one who stands straight with his full spine forward not afraid of any criricism if he is imparial, unbiased.but we cannot find even one of them as everybody wants to ba called a super secular.for BJP or for that matter any sensible hindu mr.mody will be if not hero but definitely a fighter.he fought aginst the evil nexus of india

denial of visa to Modi
by praveen matiman on Apr 14, 2005 11:52 AM  Permalink

The anti -BJP, left oriented activists have got one more opportunity to bash Narendra Modi and rekindle the post Godhra unfortunate incidents.Actually Bush borrowed a tactic commonly resorted to by the pseudo -secular Indian politicians , and their supporters in the Media , whose only claim to be secularism lies in badmouthing the BJP and issuing press releases and statements abusing the BJP/ RSS .The gimmick resorted to by Bush was only to boost his own stock among the Muslims especially in the sub- continent. Not that it is going to buy him a lot of sympathy but then politicians, including Bush, never tire of trying.

Butcher of Gujarat!
by Gauzbig on Apr 14, 2005 11:14 AM  Permalink

The horrible events in Gujarat under Narendra Modi have brought disgrace to India.

The political chicanery at Delhi in the aftermath of Gujarat also showed the pseudo-nationalists of the BJP in thier true colours.

The speech by Vajpayee at Panaji as Prime Minister had plunged the depths of political morality - by even his disastrous standards set in Nellie, as an irresponsible opposition leader!

The imposter Sardar Patel proved (if proof was at all required) that he was unfit to be the home minister. He vociferously supported the Modi government as it first sponsored the outrage and later strenuously attempted to protect the saffron hordes from facing the consequences of the pogrom that they unleashed!

Jaitley and Mahajan have shown that they lack sagacity and fairness to be anywhere near government, when they launched pot shots at the CEC, NHRC, Supreme court, NGOs for daring to spoil Modi's party.

Today the BJP is caught in a cleft stick. Not for pangs of delayed conscience, which is alien to these folk.

Thier dilema:How do they throw out Modi while retaining the other(un)worthies at senior party positions?

Once hero, now BJP's albatross
by RG on Apr 14, 2005 10:58 AM  Permalink

Looks like another Praful in the making. The author's views are one sided. There is a difference between an offensive and defensive action. Sometimes the defensive action could be more severe. But the fact remains that it is a defensive action. The riots post Godhra are more severe. But it was a retaliation against the offensive act at Godhra. The author has not made any mention about it. He also does not explain how the same U.S. had earlier issued a Visa for Mr. Modi's visit to the U.S.A. post Godhra when all the information were available. It is unfortunate that such articles are published even in Rediff.
