The future Pope.
by O.S.Kamalapurkar. on Apr 04, 2005 11:35 PM  Permalink

Sad demise of Pope John Paul II is being mourned all over the world, be it a Christian Country or not. He was admired by one and all. The future Pope must know that relations with non Chritian countries must improve.He must come open with full measure to understand the sentiments of the Budhists,Hindus and Muslims who now have the capacities to assert themselves.Mere preaching the Christian thought is not enough.

India had an admirer in Pope
by A.G.SOJAN on Apr 04, 2005 08:21 PM  Permalink

I fully agree with Cardinal Varkey Vithayathil
that the late Pope's voice reflected global conscience.Whenever there were human rights violations
violence against innocent people and foreign occupation he came down heavily on the perpetrators.
This can be gauged from the glowing tributes paid to the late Pope by people from different walks of life
including taliban leadership.

pope admired india?????
by n.s parameswaran on Apr 04, 2005 08:12 PM  Permalink

What a misleading title. As the answers in the interview indicate he admired india not for its qualities but because "He loved the growth of the Church and the sterling missionary works, especially in the fields of education and healthcare, of church institutions in India".
So his admiration was not for India but for Christianity and its growth in India. It was not for the people of india, the hindus and the tolerance that india epitomises.
What hypocracy|||

Yes, we lost a privileged Indian admirer
by K Chandrasekhar Omkar on Apr 04, 2005 07:55 PM  Permalink

Hello everyone,

After reading all the news said above, I too say that "YES IT IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE THAT WE LOST AN ADMIRER OF OUR COUNTRY". Irrespective of religion, Pope always tried for the world peace. It is so sad that we lost him. I think, people are showing their patrioitism for the next pope to be elected, which is not good. I personally feel that Pope must be a person who can lift up the core human values and maintain world peace.
