democracy vs. independence
by kripal on Aug 11, 2008 04:50 PM  Permalink

everybody knows that india has democracy but the indians are not independent. we can choose m.p., m.l.a. but they are not real leader, they are only mediater, commission agent, broker who fight for power to earn money and make people fool. but one thing is clear there is no need to make people fool because they are already.
when british ruled india, there was very strict rules and everybody honour the rules but no one honours the rules therefore the british rule is better than neta's rule.

VISION FOR A BETTER INDIA
by Ramchunder Maraj on Aug 10, 2008 11:50 PM  Permalink

Almost all the problems in India are caused by uneducated ,corrupt politicians without any vision for the upliftment of the citizens and the glorification of India - just compare China ,which with single - minded purpose has sprung to the top in terms of economic and military might.
The solution for India is to elect administrators instead of politicians at the helm of its affairs. There is no debating the fact that the polticians have dragged India into the gutters and one can understand the frustration of the Supreme Court in stating that even if God came down to India it would be an insurmountable task to sort things out. Also the observation by the SC that policemen who don't register FIRS should be flogged ! This is strong language but it is what India requires.
As I mentioned above, we need suitably qualified citizens to become MP's.Towards this end , the salary of MP's should be at par with what they would earn in the private sector and , even if this figure is somewhat less, they would have the added incentive and pleasure of serving their country. The majority of the electorate belongs to the younger generation, are educated and have access to computers and would be able to assess the suitability of prospective MP's.What a difference it would make to India if these MP's are given a chance to prove their worth and not have to kowtow to Party leaders.Perennial debates about which political Party is better for the country are sterile .
WAKE UP INDIA !

India`s 61st Independence Aniversary.
by Rahul Singh on Aug 10, 2008 07:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India has achieved strides in IT, Tele-communi-cation and Space Program. It has a long way to reach the heights where other developed nations are taking pride. The key areas where India needs to strive are:

Population control (Immediate measure)
Pollution control (through Automobiles, Green House gases and unplanned industrialization)
Infra-structure development (CITY PLANNING)
Rural Health and Sanitation.
Rural Housing (providing basic amenities like clean drinking water & electricity)
Compulsory Education and attainment of functional literacy.
Providing employment opportunities to all.
Checking and controlling spread of fatal diseases like: AIDS, TB, Maleria, ETC.

Above all empowerment of wemen and youth by channelising their talents and energies in the right direction.

Presently the Indian Public generally faces moral bankrupsy. Immediate revival of value systems apart from rooting out Corruption and improving the image of Politics and Politicians.

Rahul Singh.

Yes, Indian public is facing moral bankruptcy but our politicians are stinking rich and they are sharing their wealth with other corrupt politicians to get their vote, its only Indian public who is striving each and every moment for life not the politicians, they are dancing, enjoying and collecting money and filling their bank accounts for the next season.

We need to develop on many fronts still
by mallaiah anchoori on Aug 10, 2008 04:47 AM  Permalink

After a prolonged period of more than a half century,we could ,at last, achieve some advancement in the spheres of technology & industrialisation while we failed miserably in removing the income disparities.Rich are growing rich & the poor stand where they were. Concentration of wealth still continues. Power politics have grown in leaps & bounds culminating in non-stability of govt.Lopsided planning relegating agriculture to the back accounts for the low per capita income owing to our village base being predominant with farmer community.Pampering of some sections of people in the name of perennial reservation policy has become a demotivating factor for the merited and non reserved categories.Good education still remains inaccessible to many.Communal riots are on increase.Terrorism by misguided youth of a particular community has become a bane for public safety.Values are giving way to materialism and consequently to too much of unwanted consummerism leading to inflationary trends on & oft,the kind of which we are presently reeling under terribly.Morals & ethics in people -more so in officials are on decrease.Corruption is at its zenith.Sincerity & honesty of purpose is abjectly lacking in all govt projects.Though the literacy rate has increased, standard of education in terms of basic human values is falling abysmally setting all our progress at naught since a nation's character is to be built only on values & if we lose it,we will be supposed to have lost every thing.
