The Reservation policy needs a change! Everything is not good with this free India
by Suresh HB on Aug 25, 2008 08:36 AM  Permalink

Read the following to be more clear:
The IITS, which faced problems filling SC/ST seats this year (2008-09), decided on Sunday to further lower the cut-off for them in next year’s admissions, to make way for as many candidates as possible.

The Joint Admission Board, which met in IIT-Kharagpur on Sunday to finalise the entrance policy for next year, decided to increase the cut-off waiver for SC/STs and the physically disabled from the present 40 per cent to 50 per cent. This is to ensure more SC/ST students make it through the process, Prof D. Acharya, director IIT-Kharagpur, and Prof Gautam Barua, director IIT Guwahati, told HT. So, if general category students needed 100 marks for qualifying JEE, SC/ST candidates so far had a relaxation allowing them entry at 60 marks; in 2009 it will be 50 marks," an IIT Director told The Indian Express.

Why am I hating my own motherland??

I can not keep digesting the ugly reservation policy of the govt.
by Suresh HB on Aug 25, 2008 08:29 AM  Permalink

Marks Concession for college admission and followed by job reservation?? It is like wanting to eat their share of cake and grabbing the share of others later. Is this the INDIA of our dreams?? No, Not.

Read the following for example:
The IITS, which faced problems filling SC/ST seats this year (2008-09), decided on Sunday to further lower the cut-off for them in next year’s admissions, to make way for as many candidates as possible.

The decision was made keeping in view that next year, the six new IITs and the older ones will increase seats in lieu with expansion. This year, the seven old IITs expanded by 13 per cent, accommodating nine per cent OBC quota. The six new IITs — at Gandhinagar, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad and in Punjab and Rajasthan, each with 120 seats — implemented 27 per cent quota from this year.

But 66 seats meant for SCs and STs in the six new IITs were left vacant, as there were not enough eligible candidates. As the new IITs expressed inability to start preparatory courses for SC/ST candidates, citing infrastructure and faculty problems, the Joint Admission Board of 2008 decided to leave the 19 SC and 47 ST seats vacant this year. These seats would be filled afresh as part of IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), 2009.

About 3.11 lakh candidates appeared for JEE 2008 While the cut-off for the last general category student admitted in IITs was 180 marks out of a total of 489, the cut-off for the last of the SC/ST students wa

by Vridhachalem Subramaniam on Aug 15, 2008 09:10 AM  Permalink

Dear Indians allover the World,my Countrymen and Women,Please lend me your ears : Greetings on this day of Remembrance and rejoicing.Just because Gandhiji led an Ahimsa movement don't you ever miscalculate that it was by sheer fluke that we got our independence. Those who struggled in jail under hard labour as well as those families who lost their sons in the course of the ninety years of struggle should be thanked and remembered - not merely in words but in sincere Commitment and action of our LOVE for the country,DEDICATION to the economy and Commitment to safety and security of the Nation against all odds - natural enemies and terrorist foes who are lurking around to strike again at our vital installations. So on this Day let us make a resolve to do our BEST at all costs for the NATION that is our MOTHERLAND - everything else comes secondary.... everything else. Please Remember history repeats itself and let us avoid one more war with whosoever we had been fighting against.THINK and deeply THINK before you act selfishly ! THIS is a country of 5000 years of Civilization and take pride of our heritage and stand by OUR true Values, DHARMA and Paoopahara and not SELFISHNESS - so cheap and cowardly in character. Let us show to the World that we are an Economically Emerging National Force to reckon with - not by money alone but by our Sterling Character. That my dear Cyberfriends is my humble thought for the Day.Read what you want, say what you want BUT never do a thing that har

Prosperous India

Prakasha Rao, Hyderabad
I hope Great Indian Democracy flourish in the International scenerio proudly and with great respect. We should be an influential Power in International matters.
We need to eleminate terrorism, so that each and every individual live freely with no fear. Corruption should be irradicated with sincerity by politicians, law makers and officers. Children need to be educated and trained as per the changed environment. Educational institutes should not be business centres. People lose faith in Judiciary due to delay in justice. Sincerity of countable Govt Officers and staff is going un-noticed. Most of them need to work at least to that extent that they give justice to the huge salary they take home.
Sincere effort and support from all the agencies is needed to provide facilities to enable dreams of youth to bring into action. Facilities available for the development of youth should not be confined to some influential sections of the society. It should be impartially made avilable to each who deserve. Majority of youth are with great and ideas and are looking for his contribution for progress of the country. As Dr Abdul Kalam said, youth is highly confused and helpless. This is due to unfair and bias in providing facilities. Major share of this fund is being gabbed and under utilized by influencial section of the society. If this area is concentrated, new ideas will be brought into action, generates employment, elevates living standards and make India a
