It is not only defense expenditure which is totally unproductive. So also the enormous amount of money that we spend on internal security. Just because, people will not follow rules we have to spend on putting barricades, rings and rings of security around the so called VIPs. The root cause of all external and internal insecurity is distrust and hatred that is fanned by self seeking politicians and their advisors. It is unfortunate that most of us remain highly vulnerable to the evil designs of people who preach hatred. There is no alternative to tolerance, mutual respect and fundamental freedoms. Do you know that you are working at least 25% more in your life to meet the growing expenditure on defense and internal security. If we follow the path of arms race we would just end up becoming reckless

We are forced to spend money on arms because of the presence of people in every part of the world. They are yet to understand the meaning of civilization, democracy and above all the United Nations. Most disputes between countries could be resolved if only countries submit themselves to a common code of conduct.
