India can use its nuclear weapons to get respect in the world. Thereby dictate policies both economic and financial with other countries and thereby improve our condition.
When everything fails US also resorts to arm twisting ... because they have nuclear missiles and bombs.

US resorts to arm twisting not because of its mililary power alone but because it is the largest economy of the world and one of the richest country in the world by any standard. How India, a dirt poor country, in fact one of the poorest countries in the world, will resort to arm twisting, is beyond imagination of any body.

Largest Debtor country cannot be called the rishest nation anymore. Tables have turned. US borrows from others to maintain its standard, how long will this keep going. Printing dollars is not going to work anymore.
Economic growth coupled with military only help any nation to ward against any attack. We should have arsenal to fight and also money to fight. That is what US is having and doing. We have been only warning our neighbors, but never dare to engage into fight( only cockfight ). Our economy will not support even one month fight with Pakis. Whereas US is doing that in IRAG and Afghan for years. We need politicians with brain !!!( all that, we have is secular politicians filling their purse and doing vote bank politics )
China gave nuclear bomb to Pakistan and also still claims lots of Indian land. History has proven that weak and useless thoughts have made Indian vulnerable to cpature from foreigners ...so Wake up...
Our nuclear arsenals need to be at the level where enemey can not dare to harm us.
Also we need to recall our ambassadors...
India should go for punitive measures as this world there is nothing without give and take. India has agreed from no talk on Nulcear issues to complete morotorium due to clever approach of US thru this deal. What it gets in return is yet to be seen. Stabbing in back is once again China who are propping up these states and India should be very clear to Chinese and all these countries that they stand to loose lot of goodwill from India.
Indian should reconsider going to Switzerland and also economically block deals with all these countries.
When is INDIAN leadership going to show some spine...just putting feeble Pranab Mukehrjee in front will not help matters...
The Bharatvarsha was the land of princes and priests. The princes managed all the worldly affairs and the saints guided the spiritual and moral things in life. The sainthood has become business today and most princely duties are on them while corporates and artists have become princes. That is also why, ordinary Indian is struggling for material ends and lost so much both as a citizen and individual, and materialistically as well as spiritually. This system is not long term and as a global leader engaged with the world, India and indians need to evolve a system which feeds the poor, conducts the prayer as well as tests the bomb or software. Its a challange like never before, so is it an opportunity like never before. We are living in important times.
If your ancestors had not fougth among themselves and pushed out the zillions of invaders, we would have been an independent nation all along our history. No one else should raise an eye on our temples or its treasures. Trillions of dollars worth treasures have been looted by Ghaznis, Ghoris and you name them. That is why we need a nuclear bomb. There were poor people even then, there are poor people even now. The difference is, in between we have lived a thousand years of servitude and slavery as a nation and people.
It's ridiculous to see the pitch given by Rediff editors, the old guy did not have any opinion on the Nuclear deal standoff and yellow journalism has taken over.

Subbu,
Padam Singh's ancestors- the Rajputs- at least fought the invaders, even to theirs and their families' deaths. What exacltly did your ancestors do when Ghori and Ghaznavi came calling? Please do tell! And name one country or community, then and today, where infighting was and is not prevalent? Did the muslims not fight one another? Europeans? We lost not because there was a dearth of fighting men, rather there was complete indifference and hostility to new ideas, new technologies and new strategies. People with closed minds (koop-mandooks) always fail. Do read about the initial battles that were fought between the invaders and Punjabi rajputs like Ghakkars. Some of the stuff is fairly eye-opening!

Dude, thanks for the lecture. We are not discussing what ancestors of yours or mine did or did not do. Fair or unfair, Rajputs were geographically at a disadvantage of having to defend constantly. I can read about the "initial" battles and definitely learn more, but the crucial part is, most latter battles, including the ones against Alexander, Rajputs conspired against fellow Raputs. That was the reason why inspite of brave kings like Rana Pratap Singh, Rajputs still lost. I am not blaming any one particular community, but the point is, even to this day Indians have it in their DNA to pull down fellow men. You might move on to philosophize on how it is a universal human trend, but then we are digressing.
who on earth wrote this crap? The Nuclear deal is about nuclear energy .. .and YES, the presence of nuclear energy can drive the cost of daal down by driving down costs to make them.
In the good old days, people - often accused as the CIA agents - used to work against the nation by remaining behind the curtains. In today's times, that hesitation too seems to have disappeared, and articles asking for Kashmir's independence, adopting illegal Bangladeshi migrants as citizens and questioning India's right to defend itself, as mentioned by this article, are being written in full public view.
