Congrats Bangalore...
by Ashish Kanekar on May 25, 2008 04:16 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Congrats on the new airport.

I wish Bangalore and the people of the great state of Karnataka all the best.

We Marathi people in Mumbai are looking forward to a new airport - but environmental concerns by UP/Bihari govt in New Delhi have delayed it.

The UP/Bihari govt in New Delhi never has any "environmental" problems with new slums being constructed by their loyal state mates.

I suppose Mumbai will get a few dozen more slums (filled with UP/Bihar migrants) before the airport breaks ground.

I am sorry to see your mental standard, the man responsible for airports is Mr Prafful Patel From Maharashtra & Mr Sharad Pawar one of the most powerful minister in the cabinet also from Maharashtra, the centre&state both have UPA govts. Then why this UP/Bihari chant, grow up ,see beyond the politicians who are fooling the citizens of the country. If you still feel bitter take up YOGA&ihope Mumbai gets it new airport soon.

bangalore has changed to worst

Bangalore is no more a good city. People are getting rude and dont behave properly especially some outsiders who have come and settled there. It is neither safe city as crimes and terrorist activities are on the rise. Corruption and ever increasing real estate prices have made it most unsuitable for the kannadigas themselves. Traffic is terrible of course. What is good in Bangalore except weather?

I agree with you Rameez. Even I have experienced the same in Bangalore...people are rude. But in the below comments by Suraj, he meant about airport in-convineance, not much about people being rude.

BANGALORE
by suraj kohli on May 25, 2008 12:36 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Bengluru is a weird city with weird autorities who are more snobbish than the Americans. They have built a "world class" airport 50 kms out of Bangalore in some village where there are not even proper roads.Of course there are airports in other places well beyond the city but they would be beside a highway and well connected by road and rail. There is no warmth in bangalore with all indifferent people who feel they are doing you some favor if they talk to you.

hey I'm a kannadiga, i feel proud that we are so cosmopolitan than so many other cities/stated; we tolerate almost everyone and everything; you probably are referring to immigrants from other states who are rude, intolerant etc.. are you? they don't count in as bangaloreans

Bangaluru International Airport is a world class and india's best airport. This opinion is not a illogical,I am giving this opinion after having experience at Mumbai,Hyderabad,Delhi airports. The other airport which is good in service is Madras airport.
The harrasing customs officials in Mumbai which every passenger experiences is a world known fact.
Bangaloreans always welcomed people from other states and adsorbed them in their warm culture. Its entirely wrong if some one says that they are indifferent people.Today what is Bangalore is not because of politicians and Goverments but because of Bangalorean's dedicated effort toward development,if any north indian sees bangalore he will develop a willingness of permanently settling down here.More then 5 lakhs north Indian families have allready settled here without any harassment from anyone, touriststhe world over they Knows India and after India they knows other name is Bangaluru, may be Mr Kohli is jealous of Bangalore's development and sarcastically he is remarking that Bangalorians are indifferent people

I have seen both Calcutta and Bombay international airports quite good.
A brand new airport shud be better than previous ones - no wonder. Also, previously Indian Govt did not have so much of money.

But the planning of B'lore airport is hopeless as B;lore's own misguided wine-women-loving young men/women.

Dont look spectacular
by deepak on May 24, 2008 09:43 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India doesnt have a modern structure which is world class and dramatic and spectacular...Bangalore should have done something..this makes a nation assertive, adds drama and pride in its people and draws in big money and investment...I could be wrong, but Bangalore airport looks pretty ordinary to me and the people look in usual Indian setting - in disarry, and confused. Are the custom officers, immigration, tellers clerks and personnel trained in basic good manners & courtesy or is it the same old Indian style?? please please improve personnel

BIAL is India's best airport and also a truely world class one

Hyd New Airport and Banglore New Airport , which is good looks and better less thrust in sucking Public money?????? remember both are private and intention to build the airport is to make huge money for the builders
I think both are pain when it comes to distance to travel is more than short haul flight time....

IT & BT honoches you cant eat the cake and have the cake also.
Earlier people were cribbing about bad airport infrastruture now they complain that airport distance is more.
We cannot go back on the commitments made on paper while signing the agreement with bial

At best for future infrastructure projects people should actively involve before the govt signs the agreement At the end of the day is the common man who is paying through his nose for all the follies of govt and industrial lobbies

BANGALORE INTERNATIONAL AIR PORT
by narayanamurthy on May 24, 2008 03:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Bangalore Airport is far away from the city. To board a flight to hyderabad one has to spare two at bangalore and after reachying hyderabad again two to three hours for just one hour journey by spending huge amount on flight charges. thus thethe total durration of the 7 hours. If you travelby road , the volvo bus will take just ten hours by paying rs.650. Hence, I request all commuters of bangaore - hyderabad to discourtage the airport authotities by taking bus instead of flight. Hyderabad and bangalore old air ports should continue for domestic flights.

Do you know what a legal contract means?

If the government goes ahead and uses strong-arm tactics to harrass the private airport authority, to keep the old airport open, in violation of the SIGNED LEGAL CONTRACT, watch how future investment projects in India either crash, or become several times more expensive, to cover government dada-giri.

The law of unintended consequences will strike the idiots calling for the violation of the contract to keep the old airport open, with a vengeance.
