The error in Anshuman's comprehension of the cosmos
by Vishal Sharma on May 25, 2008 01:15 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The error in Anshuman's understanding of the cosmos is that it is without a creator. Or in other words Anshuman is an atheist - so says rediff. I feel as Anshuman studies perhaps the mathematical harmony in the laws governing the cosmos will reveal themselves to him that Physics is afterall a mathematical interpretation of God's desires!

Another gem of India is being lost to the US
by Vishal Sharma on May 25, 2008 01:11 AM  Permalink

Such a genius boy is a gift to mankind. These genuises are what makes the human species proud. It is good that the boy will get opportunities to pursue higher courses in Advanced Physics at the MIT, but it is sad that such a gem is being lost to India and is being gained by the US.

Is This a Hoax as many other news like this which appeared earlier?
by S Rajendran on May 24, 2008 12:49 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I hope rediff.com could confirm that this is not a hoax. Too many similar stories are being planted including one about a person who was selected by NASA and got to meet Dr Kalam until it was realised that it was nothing but a hoax. Rediff.com owes it to its readers to confirm that MIT has actually admitted Anshuman. Why does it publish such stories without re-checking it with its correspondent in the US, Aziz Haniffa? why are you taking it so personally? i mean its not that he's picking on you. And why are you differentiating between "big cities" and " districts" and what not. I think you are the one feeling low and your defensive reaction shows how insecure you are.

Conditional help
by peearen on May 23, 2008 03:41 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is shame that offers from certain Institutions to help Anshuman to fly to US comes with conditions attached. All are selfish. But it is great that Anshu has decided to accept only unconditional offers. Congrats & all the bst Anshu. God bless You

its not about selfishness ...its just for the guarantee of the money coming back ...they ask you to take an LIC policy and provide it to them covering the scholarship ...which will help them get the remuneration at the end ...simple!

Many Congratulations
by Dipak Bose on May 23, 2008 11:13 AM  Permalink

Many congratulations.
It shows that there are many talents even in deep villages from very poor families.
India government should make all education at all level free ( just like in Europe) and provide scholarships for all students for hostel charges( just like in Europe) so that students from poor families also can go to the IIT/IIMs, which are now restricted only for the rich.

How Anshuman of Bankura got into MIT
by Virendra Singh on May 23, 2008 10:10 AM  Permalink

Perhaps because he studied hard and his perseverance paid...
Hope his success does not enters his head and he does well....
And hope he does not returns to India, land of opportunists who didn't give a damn about him until he was claimed by an American university...

The Choosen One
by on May 23, 2008 01:40 AM  Permalink

He is the choosen one from GOD, toppers are born and b'caz of these born people this world has reached so far in so much less time.
Whether he servers India or US, he will be adding more value to the intellectual capital of the world.
People don't mind using Western inventions for good but don't get tired bashing West.
I am no fan of American or Western world, but you have to see the things the way they are without prejudice.
Wish you very best you the 'choosen one'
