Murders are not the only crime committed in the world though it is one of the most gruesome of crimes. You cannot call a country or a city the crime capital just because one of the many crimes are the highest in the world. And I agree with the other readers that absolute numbers do not protray the true picture and percentages have to be used to correctly understand the situation. In that case Russia wins hands down. This is just sensationalism by the National Crimes Bureau who persuaded rediff to carry this story.

The survey has given a shocking result what we read everyday in news paper which is direct a result of our declining moral value system. The value of being selfless, patient being good helpful and kind to others and always thinking for your fellow human are on a decline. I me myself. really a shame

Sir, animal's dead body or stomach is used for crimes which are without strong evidence; like subjecting a person to necromancy or para-psychological science. it's also a voilation of the INDIVIDUAL HUMAN RIGHTS like privacy. mr.j.p.malhotra is using this animal (a dog) to subject me to parapsychological sciences to know my past or future. i didn't approve him to do so. that dog is suffering from head injury which will help in parapsychology. i dont think it is appropriate to point out at any particular community. it is everyone at large we all are responsible hindu muslim sikh christian parsi everyone. every individual makes or breaks a society. so it is about a individual whether he may belong to any religion or ideology. we need to check re check our values.

India population is almost 100Crore. So if we take percentage, it is very small. So it wrong to say that India is crime capital. Bloody rediff should be kicked in ass for degrading India name. Please check 100 times before putting India name in the headlines. Are we adding rightly, are we talking rightly. If we calculate in percentage, it is ok to say it. Otherwise what value this news article carries? Whome are you threatening by saying so?
This article is a wake up call for all of us. Amid chaos of Arushi, Jessica, Nitharis, Mattoos etc. this is the right time for all of us to introspect oursleves. This could be the beginning of a restlessness, desperation or agression among people in the society. Beside this, people are getting short tempered, lusty and short sighted that we heading towards the DOOMS DAY!
Road rages, street fights and day light murders are results of the society we live-in and proving dangerous for the urban part of the country.

We are in times where being righteous is crime, speaking truth being straight forward and upright are considered act of foolishness and we praise people who succeed with deceit and lies. our values as society are changing and for that every single common man is responsible. we need to check and recheck our values what we consider to be right or wrong
The number, 32,719 is grossly misleading. Amongst a population of 120 crores, this number is fairly less. We must rather take the ratio of murders to the population than the actual number of murders. That would give us a correct picture.
Countries like Colombia, South Africa and Mexico have very less population. Hence, their murder ratio would be higher than that of India. Although Indians are no saints, it's still incorrect to call India as the crime capital of the world.

Yes the number of 32719 is misleading because it represents the reported number. I would not be surprised if the actual number is 5 times the reported figure!
No doubt indaia is crime capital. British rule is far better than bloody congress rule. I had ration card in Gurgaon and I cahnged my accommodation to Delhi. I cancelled ration card and aply raion car in deli butone bloody is sitting in pusa road supply office. He asked money for ration card. I did not give him. I complained in ITO office. Assistand commissionar recommend for ration car but still I did not get ration card. This is bloody rule. We did not get I card without money.
