Why all of us are looking at the population versus murders ratio?
Mind it, the figures mentioned are the cases registered and there are numerous murders/accidents which never get lime lights that Arushi/Jessica etc. got because of Media.
Instead comparing the figures & ratio, better we do constructive to save our society. Should not wait for India ratio matching with other nations. We all must accept that we are converting into resteless, unorganized and uncivilized society which will only end up in DISASTER.
only we are responsible 4 it at some point or the other .for eg see the Arushi murder case which is still going and the murderer has not been found yet.
Even with our kind of population, isnt the number too high. If you have some questions on the credibility of the report, cant you look around you. Apart from communal riots and caste wars, everyday we find 3-4 murders, rape & theft in the local newspapers. Agreed that our situation is better than countries ranked below us like Columbia, Brazil but shouldnt we accept situation here is also not good. Dont we critisise UP/Bihar for their lawlessness. Can they give the same examples of this population ratio. Come on guys , solution come once you accept the problems

we need to check and recheck our values at indivudial level what we think as right or wrong. and what we decide to implement in our lives. remember individual makes or breaks a society and we are all part of society
The survey has given a shocking result what we read everyday in news paper which is direct a result of our declining moral value system. The value of being selfless, patient being good helpful and kind to others and always thinking for your fellow human are on a decline. I me myself. really a shame

No doubt India is crime capital becuase criminals are ruling India. We cannot make even I card without money. we do not get gas cylender in time. everywhere curreption.There is no trffic rule. Everywhere curreption.Bloody rulers are enjoing and they are coming every five year for vote

Indians are corrupt for centuries & were better ruled by british who were ,more honest & fair rulers in many respect!!!!! Indians are far nasty to their own countrymen!!!

Murders are not the only crime committed in the world though it is one of the most gruesome of crimes. You cannot call a country or a city the crime capital just because one of the many crimes are the highest in the world. And I agree with the other readers that absolute numbers do not protray the true picture and percentages have to be used to correctly understand the situation. In that case Russia wins hands down. This is just sensationalism by the National Crimes Bureau who persuaded rediff to carry this story.
