another jawan sacrifices his life in vain
by Pradip Parekh on Aug 03, 2008 12:13 AM  Permalink

the terror-friendly policies of congressi gandi party are manifestly against national interests. if india wants peace it must shut down all trafic from pakistan and bangladesh - at least until both these two countires adopt secular constitution and certifiably behave accordingly. right now these two countries merely act as springboard for launching islamic jihad against india like the old old days. this is merely history repeating itself when the islamic barbarians were repeatedly attacking india with no well thought out counter response from the native country. it makes no sense to be playing stupid. for the best to happen, you got to expect the best and insist on it.

I feel sad for this army man. Lives of both side soldiers are equally precious. Pakistan and Indians should exchange FLOWERS instead of BULLETS. And request to all Indians please don’t abuse Pakistan and Islam. Its hurt a lt. God bless u all. TARIQ FAISALABAD PAKISTAN

Frankly I find general population of muslim from pakistan more educated, moderate and better evolved than muslims in India.
Pakistan had a great future in economic development in terms of agriculture, industrial products, commodities(due to availability of natural resource I guess in Sindh area).
Unfortunately your country(pakistan) has been hijacked by elements who have no interest in progress, peace or welfare of citizen. President Zia-ul-haq was instrumental in steering country in the wrong direction and now it has become a heaven for all anti-social, anti-human elements. Fortunately general population of pakistan are tired of being puppets and helpless onlookers and they have started voicing their anger towards such thing. It is only people of pakistan who can help themselves and some good people like that chief justice chaudhary are rising to the occassion and saying enough is enough. Hopefully you have success in restoring order back to what it was in the past.

I hope our Army takes care of OMKAR's education
by nita k on Aug 01, 2008 11:15 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The farewell 7 tributes are all Ok but lets be practical after one week no one will recall who was Gaokar. I hope the Army has a way of ensuring that the child's education is well taken care of without too much red tapism and the family is also comfortable. After all we spend so much for the defence this will be a pittance. Govt can never give back Omkar his father but should ensure a comfortable life.

Prasad Sirigeri,
Indian casualties have, in fact, come down lately. There is a complex fencing system in some parts of the border, although, I understand it is yet to be completed. Slow progress because of the "babus" in Delhi.
Generally, it is the case that Indian troops give as much back to them as they get. In this case, when an Indian patrol, including Ajit Gaokar, saw some Pak. soldiers crossing the LoC marker, they wanted to talk to them and approached them. That is when another group of Pak. soldiers not visible to the Indians started shooting at them. That is when Ajit got hit.
Being trained soldiers, the Indians took up battle position and called for re-inforcements and the exchange of fire lasted 16 hours. Four Pak soldiers died, perhaps, while moving around to outflank the Indian soldiers.
A soldier's life is closer to harm than the rest of us. No matter from which country they are from.
According to Nawaz Sheriff, the Premier during Kargil war, Pakistan lost upwards of 4,000 soldiers. Indians lost about half that much. We can only go by second-hand sources. Pak army has been losing about 30 soldiers on average every two months over the lost two years, since the Lal Masjid stand-off.
The recent incident at the LoC, has to do with the Indo-US Nuclear Agreement. Pak sees India's high profile as troubling.
