What a great deal is this???
by mohit gupta on Jul 14, 2008 02:12 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If anyone is saying that I am from UP But my country is India..who other than rediff will make this a news haedline...????

Its not obligatory on anyoone's part ,who is citizen of india ,to say that his country is India..

They are our part and should not be confused with tibetan or chinese...

write of this article seems to believe as he has find a man from north america who is saying that INDIA is his country...

if an indian will not say that INDIa IS HIS COUNTRY THEN WHO WILL SAY????

It just shows our shaken trust and confidence of our conscience on natioanl integrity..

naive caption
by Dr. Himanshu Agarwal on Jul 14, 2008 02:02 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

rediff should look into what they are posting on net. such naive captions are not appropriate and shows the level of ingnorance of author and rediff. sikkim is a beautiful place and people are harmonius. better change the caption.
rediff managers should wake up now

I am totally agree with Mr. Himanshu as such a title shows a stepchild behaviour towords sikkim which is not at all acceptable since it is very much integral part of India.

On May 16, 1975, 97.5% people of Sikkim preferred to join Indian union through a referendum. I guess the board was written before 1975!
Good observation though! Did you bring this issue to the notice of the zoo authorities?

how stupid article !!!
by Sunit Kumar on Jul 14, 2008 01:44 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If there is one state which after its inclusion in India has been peacefull is Sikkim, why on earth did this author thought of writting this article...

I bet if u ask Tamils they will say i am Tamil but my desh is Indian, if u ask Marathi, same, if u ask Bengali same, if u ask kashimiri may be u will get a different answer but than remember India has a Army Regiment from Kashmir, majority of the Police force fighting in Kashmir against the millitants are Kashmiris, infact the 1947 war in which India defeated Pakistanis, was soley due to support given by Kashmiri's from BARAMULLA region !!!

Hope one day Indian Media will grow up !!

May be it is in response of today's news which I read in Navbharat. Which stats that "China's lower garde official says that they will not allow India to make Nepal as they have made Sikkim" for detail please go through newspaper.

Mr.Kumar The Army Regiment is not from kashmir but J & K, and it is known fact to all that the Kashmir is Disputed Area, so how come that any Kashmiri will call himself an Indian as kashmiris have different Culture, tradation and feelings as compared to the rest of india.and no indian is ready to trust any kashmiri, how is it possible that kashmiris can be called as indians.

Lala, have you seen Kashmiri culture? The culture of Hindus in Kashmir as similar to other hindus of world.
When a Kashmiri Muslim looking for a job in other part of India he calls hiself Indian, but same person when sitting in Kashmir will call him only Kashmiri & not Indian. What a petty.

Amit, 1st mistake in 1947, Govt. didn't captured whole of the Kashmir. 2nd in 1965, 3rd in 1972 and than Kargil. I agree that Govt. made mistake, and didn't distroyed pakistan and took full control of Kashmir. Than this problem would have over.
But, Govt. wanted these people to feel free & safe, lots of grants were given to them. They used the grants fully till 1988-89 and lived happly, but after that, enjoying the grants and stabing on the back.

So Amit, what do you think?

Nothing wrong in the caption.
by Jayaprakash Balan on Jul 14, 2008 01:42 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I find nothing wrong in the caption. Its a true reflection of every citizen in the Eastern corner of India. People are just hurt by the caption, imagine the life of all those people who are living in those eastern and the most beautiful places of India, but still treated and second hand states of India. Which of Indian Govt. have ever given importance to these states. Which of the industrialist and the so called progressive people have ever thought of these place. Have they ever been represented truly and given place in mainstream politics, glamour. Its no use just trying to write everywhere that we are Indian. Every citizen should feel it.

Totally agreed with you SIR.
One also feel that people of eastern states are not getting mixed up easily with other Indians, Like in Delhi. But when we go to these states these peoples are very friendly to us. There is some problem with Norther Indian or else.

What's wrong? The title tells you how a Sikkimese person feels proud of his country when he says my desh is India.

Don't we hear words like Punjabi, Bihari, Bengali, Malayali, Maharashtrian, Kannadiga, Kashmiri, etc? This is basic identification of your region or state. The BEST part is saying I am an Indian.

The message coming from this 16 year old boy is more patriotic than what we webloggers are saying.

There is nothing wrong or mischievous about it. Please read it objectively.

Why rediff is posting statements against national interest?
by manoj jaiswal on Jul 14, 2008 01:32 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Strong actions should be taken against the writer of the post and the rediff for posting such an anti-India column. Title is derrogatory for nation lovers. This post misleads the young minds and conveys a very dubious and wrong idea and raises questions whether sikkim is part of India. This post seems to be funded by either china or pakistan.

IS Sikkim In India or not?
by R Bose on Jul 14, 2008 01:32 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

How corny and misleading can Rediff get. We all know that being Sikkimese and being India is not mutually exclucsive, unless Rediff would like us to beleive otherwise. I think Rediff should immediately apologise or be sued by the GoI.
