I love sikkim and gorkhaland (may this dream come true). Sikkim is really progressing fast and the systems are great.
Darjeeling and the area rightfully claimed by the locals as Gorkhaland would progress too had it been free of West Bengal.
Gorkhaland is a patriotic movement by the Nepalese son on the soil who are still considered foreigners..... sad when india is attacked every village in this region loses young men and they take pride serving the country....
Sad that whole of india is not supporting Gorkhland movement and these wonderful people are still underdeveloped and are exploited by the West Bengal government....
Even the local Bengalis want Gorkhaland...
These people have given their blood.... least we can do is to give them a place where they are respected

Ya i agree with your views ,but it would be good if you say Indian nepali/gorkha a son of soil instead of Nepalese
abey dumbheads, just becasue we sikkimese do not have to pay tax to the central IT does not mean we are not taxed.
when your vicious chuuddel of a pm, Indira Gandhi nabbed sikkim, we had an arrangement wherein IT would wold be in the state list. we are taxed by the state govt.
plus do not get confused between ULFAs and Sikkim...ULFA problem is in ASSAM..i am putting it in bold so that all you blid folks who cannot see properly cna now see.
becasue of ur attitude that china claims Sikkim's independence when we say we are Indians..thats the tragedy..we say we are indians, you say we are not indians..of course china will interfere..

A lot of Sikkimese, Manipuris, Nagas and others from NE states work, study and live with us as an integral part of our society as Indians here in Bangalore. Some are even famous film actors in local cinema. Wonder, why they are seen as "non-Indians" by people from adjacent states like West Bengal.

and why are you talking about taxes to defend yourself??
Hello friends, I see fellow messagers writing , why sikkimese need not pay taxes, many of your are wrong about the income levels, backward ness etc, If you guys have any of your friends working for military in north east ask them why ,they tell you. My friend from BSF had told me long back that, tthe people in these states already pay tax to the ulfas, etc. in the those regions, they pay taxes to them bcos they fear them a lott, than our govt.
So Indian govt, did not want to levy double tax on the people so, they removed the govt tax. that is the closest explanation for that.

You are correct, these people are riding on us although most of them are foreigners( from Nepal)
Everyone who has been to the place will tell about the backwardness and hard life of these people who are simple, loving & honest. They make such funny remarks as said in the article to prove their patriotism etc. This shouldnot be interpreted elsewise. The writer is not wrong in the Tag or Caption which is quite catchy and so folks we all have been reading the article.

Can you define backwardness. These people are more advanced then an average India in a metro city. Wearing jeans,Makeup, swinging a hand bag, having a Tv at and other gadgets etc does not make a person advanced in life, a bit comfortable yes but not advanced. Where these people in hardship will be able to find a small meal for the family a person in the metro will fail completely.
