MAKE A GORKHALAND. ITS A MUST
by harish raj on Jul 19, 2008 02:55 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

yes we support gorkhaland, as these people are supposed and have proven to be patriotic. Nepalese people who have lived here for the generations have the right to create their own state and serve this country; and Nepalese will surely progress. THese bongs never come in support for the Kashmiri hindus who have lost their land to outsiders but very well remember that NEPALESE are outsiders even when they are supposed to be fighting for the army.
Jai Hind.

aaj tak tuney kya kiya hai desh ke liye except writing in rediff mails and attacking bongs, chennaites, maharastrians etc. proving that you are a biased individual yourself. And if you are in love with gorkhaland, go to the farthest coner of the earth and build up your own land in the no-mans land instead of writing rotten things here!!!!! So, show some guts and give the world something new instead of being a sissy and writing in rediff.

I have seen the change in nepalese people over many years. From loyal, god-fearing and humble people loved by every race on earth, they have become arrogant and militant. They have destroyed one of the most beautiful hill stations on earth (Darjeeling) with their short-sighted militancy. They have destroyed an entire industry (tea) with their rabid militancy. Their literacy levels are far lower than Bongs (east), Delhi'ites (north), Maharashtrians (West) and Tamils (South).
It is a crying shame that some hot-headed youngsters (now turned middle-aged) could create such havoc in the great Indian fraternity

loved sikkim too...a beautiful state
by Vas on Jul 16, 2008 04:48 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I loved sikkim - a beautiful state (always loved mountain regions), and lovely people.

Every Indian should try to visit as many states as possible within India, and get to know the the different cultures, languages, customs, traditions, and the beautiful flora and fauna that is unique to every state. I always enjoy my sojourn to the various states and territories within India. Blessed are we, indeed, to be endowed with so much diversity and beauty.

If you think it's a poor state,if you think having a per capita income of Rs.25,000/-one of the highest in india if a state with a population of 6 lakhs and a per capita income so high and one of the smallest states.see for youself if you find a begger in gangtok , the lifestyle of the locals and the gadgets.the number of people from each family having govt.jobs and being a tax free state where does the money form..... yup from the tax payer's pocket. The amount of young drug addicts you will find in towns like singtam, jorethang and melli.i am many like me will feel inferior to them inspite of having business in so called big towns trust me and spend 6 months to a year there and you will know.it seems the cental govt.knowingly ignores and pampers sikkim i am not sure why may be china or anything and i don't care but let me tell you it's not a poor state, it has the best road infrastructure for such terrain and it has 600 schools remember the total population is 6 lakh.By no means its a ignored state when most of their demands get fulfilled and the one like income tax exemption.let me see if people of bombay or pune get such exemptions where in the beggers are more than 6 lakh and live on streets and near ditches.i am happy for the people of sikkim and it's the most beautiful place in india and the people are nice if you are tourist for a few days the most peaceful state, people are dignified and respectful especially to women you will not find tapori and eveteaser's.
Harman.

Nepalese are like every other people in India - no better, no worse.

I have always thought them to be part and parcel of India and Indian culture.

Unfortunately, the Bengalis, with their psuedo-marxist views and penchant for everything western, have themselves gone on to ruin their own culture and other Indian cultures. I am only reminded of all those Bengalis I meet living in the west. They will praise Rabindranath Tagore (who loved India and Indian culture), but will knock down every aspect of the Indian culture, left and right. Invariably they all rush to marry westerners and then sneer at everything Indian, and then claim that their Bengali culture Bengali is soooo superior. The Bengali "intellectual" will constantly deride materialism and capitalism at every public forum, but will live in huge houses with swimming pools (ever seen how Amartya Sen - the Bengali "intellectual" lives) and enjoy driving around in expensive fast sports cars. I can't understand this schizoid personality of the Bengalis. You have only yourself to blame for the ills in your society.

not all of them are India
by Dipak Bose on Jul 16, 2008 07:43 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

About 70 percent of the people of Sikkim including the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling are not India but Nepalese, who took over Sikkim taking advantage of the 1950's Indo-Nepal Treaty. They also took over Darjeeling and now want Gurkhaland, by driving out all non-Nepalese.
It was a mistake for India to take over Sikkim. Bhutan recently expelled all Nepalese. The Chowgial of Sikkim could have done that too; possibly that was the reason Nepalese people created agitations and Indira Gandhi took advantage of that, which was a mistake.
Now we have to pay the price. Nepal is expanding. Sikkim is already a part of it. Now they want Darjeeling and North Bengal as well.
Nepalese are not India by definition. It is high time to cancel the Indo-Nepal Treaty and get rid of the Nepalese.

Talking of patriotism, tell me how many Bongs are there in the Indian army. Tell if there is any Bong regiment or any rich military legacy. All you do is misuse ethos of democray and infiltrate someone's else land. When it is about saving your mangy ass, you need us and not we.

Only those who are foolish would speak in such languages. Do you know there were two Indian Generals who were Bongs - General Shankar Roychowdhury and General J N Chowdhury, famous names.
Bongs do not make soldiers they are mostly of the Commissioned Officers in Army, Airforce and Navy. They lead from the front. The Indian Medical Corps Doctors are mostly Doctors, that is why its nicknamed Indian Mukherjee and Chatterjee Corp. There are many Lt. Generals and Major Generals too. Lt General Chatterjee was the IPKF Boss in Sri Lanka. Have you heard of Bengal Sappers, thats a regiment too. They lay down mines. In IAF too there are ace Bengali supersonic pilots including Sukhois, Mirage 2000, MIG 25, Jaguars etc. their names are kept secret. In the Navy too there are many Bengali officers. Have you heard of Commander Dhar, a Bengali who is the first Naval Officer a Submarine officer who conquered Everest, the Arctic Pole etc.
Have you heard of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and his Indian National Army? Netaji was a Bengali. INA was an army which Netaji raised and defeated the British at Imphal. Do you want a list of all the veterna Bengali Defence officers, I will supply it to you. So be very careful when you talk, it only shows your level of education dear. Have you ever heard the name of Wing Commander Jumbo Majumdar the first Indian to get the flying cross, ever heard of Air Marshal Subroto Mukherjee the father of Indian Airforce. Most Gorkha regiment iscomanded by Bongs.

Here is a correction - The Indian Medical Corp is full of Bengali Doctors and Medical staff thats why its called Indian Mukherjee and Chatterjee Corp.

There are many Bengali Lt. Generals and Major Generals in the Indian Army too.

Bengalis make excellent Airforce pilots too, some of them are legendary names like 2nd Lt. Indra Lal Roy, DFC an ace pilot of World war I and great grand father of Pronnoy Roy of NDTV.
2/Lt. ESC Sen also an ace pilot in World War I, Air Chief Marshal PC Lal of 1971 war, Wing Commander K K Majumdar who fought three wars including World War 2nd, I have already mention Air Marshal Subroto Mukherjee father and first Air Chief of Indian Air Force, Group Captain Suranjan Das a world famous test pilot and grandson of Deshbandhu Chittarnjan Das. There were two Bengali pilots who were decorated with Vir Chakra and Maha Vir Chakra for their role in the Battle of Longowal (have you watched Border) and Karachi bombings in 1971. Even today we have highly skilled Bengali pilots in the Indian Airforce. Do you know the first woman skydiver from IAF she was a Bengali and a Doctor. When you make comments you have to study hard and then give your opinion. don't be superficial or shallow in your knowledge when you speak against Bengalis. Bengalis are pioneers in everything, including two Noble Laureates , First Miss Universe from India, music - Ravi Shankar, R D Burman, Kishore Kumar, Kumar Sanu, Babul Supriyo of Kahona pyar hai, Santanu Moitra of Parineeta.

Lets see. Don't be abusive. It only shows of what cultural background you belong to. I stay at Salt lake very near to the palatial Gorkha Bhavan opposite to city Centre in Kolkata. I know what life style your leaders enjoy, not even the Japanese in the nearby Japanese Cultural Society building have such life style. There are many Nepalese from Darjeeling and Kalimpong who are staying at Salt Lake as paying guests in Bengali households. Nobody disturbs them. The beautiful Nepalese girls roam more freely and peacefully here at Salt Lake. Today I read in the newspaper a Sikkimese girl suffering from a serious kidney ailment have come to Kolkata for treatment. She had no money. Do you know a Bengali from Taratala have appraoched to help her financially so that she gets her dialysis until she gets a Kidney from her mother. You abuse the Bengalis, but it is the Bengalis and no other Indians would come forward to help you without asking for anything in return. Remember there are many Nepalese who stay in Calcutta. Even the Indian Idol Prashant Tamang is in the Calcutta Police and has refused to leave the job even after he got his Crores as prize money and fees. Prashant speaks Bengali fluently and he was guided by the Bongs not any Nepali, not even Udit Narayan a Nepali (whose second wife is from Darjeeling)and was a judge at Indian Idol was of any great help to him.
Bengalis are most tolerant community in India. There are many Nepalese staying in Kolkata, ask them.

What all did you expect O highly cultured gentleman. The least I can do is abuse but you guys steal homes, steal land, change demography, impose culture. You scare the living daylight of all the tribes in North East and Darjeeling. There is a massive thinking and a grand political mechanization that goes behind this process of outnumbering natives by encouraging occupation and you conveniently ignore this reality and goes to a meaningless micro level story of an insignificant corrupt Nepali living in your neighborhood or an ailing Sikkimese being helped by a badraluk bengali. You make it sound as if all bengalis are virtues of innocence and goodness and Nepalis or other Natives of NorthEast are savages who drink blood with no virtue, morality or humanity and cruelly treat Bengalis and other Indians with great hostility. Good joke o great one but that is a mindset that prevail among mainstream Indians. In any case, we are not really discussing humanity; further more Bongs stay in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Sikkim or in NorthEast more peacefully, prosperously and happily than they would have been in Calcutta and trust you me I have no grand design or deep hatred against them. I personally believe in humanity, brotherhood, free market but yet at the same time I am not blind about the politics of the land. This call for statehood is to safeguard our culture, our way of lives, our philosophy just like Tamils do in Tamil Nadu or Punjabis do in Punjab or Bengalis do in Bengal. So long

I Love You and all Nepalis as I do of all Indians. I have never come across any Bengali till date who hate either any Bengali or of any other community. Believe me. If this is true that some Bengalis have stolen your homes, then those guys should not call themselves Bengalis. We ordinary Bengalis may not be a Rabindranath or Netaji, but surely each one of us are taught at homes by our parents to try to follow in their footsteps. We cherish the ideals of Swami Vivekanada, Ramakrishna Paramahansa Deb, who taught us all to live harmoniously as brothers and sisters. Ofcourse as Indians we are passing through very difficult times and in this Kalyug where we are chasing wild dreams and materialism plus indulge in sense gratification, there could be those who are nothing better than dacoits. I am glad that you are proud of your own culture and custom. Only those who love their family, their kith and kin can have love and respect for other community. However you too need to make great effort to make great improvement by contributing in art, literature, customs that will make the whole world notice. We Bengalis too cannot sit and bask in our past glory. We too have to work very hard so that we have many more Rabindrantah, Vivekananda, amongst us. While we are proud of our Saris and Dhotis we should not hate those who amongst us wear the Coat and pant, and vise versa. I cannot say of Nepalis but we Bengalis need to rise above petty politics and work very very hard to improve.

I might agree with the others but never on Subhash Chandra Bose. I understand he was fighting to drive away the British, but still he went ahead and shook hands with the Nazi leader Hitler. An enemy's enemy need not necessarily be our friend. Icannot understand why you bongs revere Subhash chandra bose so much. Anyone who was friendly with Hitler knowing all the atrocities he committed is a killer himself. I never consider and would never give Subhash Chandra Bose the stature you guys shower upon him.
