Where is Karat & Party & BJP: China is building six new nuclear power plants
by Loga on Jul 18, 2008 10:40 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India would require 500-600 thousand MW of power by 2030 up from 132,110 at present. Thus nuclear power is the only way forward for India.
Energy needs of India are increasing exponentially and only nuclear power is the way forward. Increased price of oil and gas internationally, issues of climate change associated with coal as well as the breakdown of consensus on big dams, India needs Nuclear Energy.
India generates 132,110 lakh MW of power annually. Of this, 64.7 per cent is generated from thermal power, 26.2 per cent is generated through hydro electric power, 5.9 per cent is from renewable power sources and only 3.1 per cent through nuclear power.Nuclear power would contribute 10 per cent of the country's energy needs by the year 2022 and 26 per cent of the needs by the year 2052.
Share of nuclear power in world wide energy production was one per cent in 1960 and between 1960 to 1986, it rose to 16 per cent of world's energy production. The share has remained constant since then. There are 439 nuclear power reactors operating around the world and the US accounts for 104 of these reactors followed by France at 59, Japan at 55, Russian Federation 31 and Republic of Korea 20.
Out of the 35 new nuclear power plants under construction in the world, Asia accounts for 24 of these. While China is building six new nuclear power plants to get 5,222 MW power for its grid, India too is building six such plants which would add 2910 MW of to its grid.

India is for sale
by fun guy on Jul 18, 2008 10:12 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Do you think congress/commies/BJP will take the country forward? You should remember one thing that congress is responsible for this entire crisis. Though India has got lot of intellectuals in world still India is far backward in technological capability. (refer WIPO world intellectual property organization statistics). These so called Harvard education economists are good at do business. They will sell the India at a great price. They don't have good vision to take India forward. India means not few billionaires but it is majority of poor who is in hunger. Government should concentrate on providing affordable quality life to poor at the same time concentrate on building technological capability of India. Further it will lead to provide better livelihood for all. Technology is the only way to provide good education, health care, safe water, food and everything today. Not just attracting third rated IT jobs/BPO to India and spoiling the powerful youth population.

Suppose if some one develops some technology, he has to continuously do research and upgrade the technology otherwise it will become obsolete.
The person importing technology no need to worry about the R&D. but only thing is the he has to buy another new technology or upgrade from the same supplier if the operation viability is lost.
The same rule is applicable to the Indian Sarkari scientist.
They are not fit for R&D. they are always interested in monthly salaries and pension. No accountability too.

Why should they favor for developing technology handling head breaking problems and by spending sleepless nights.
It is better to favor for buying technology from others and operating it. So peacefully work 10-4 for 5 days and rest enjoying life.

The message is very clear, if you started buying readymade idly dosa mix for daily need then you won’t find meaning to grind yourself in future. The same is the case for technologies. Later, India will import many things and it will say indigenous technology or raw material is not viable? But over a period of time the price will be decided by the foreign market and india have to buy what ever price they say. And india will be slave to many counties to beg technologies. The developed countries will do high quality work and Indians will do third rated monotones job in the name of BPO boom.
The main reason may be the government. The government does not have vigorous technology development policies.
Who is to blame?

nuclea deal

It is amusing to find still some people opposing nuclear power deal when we in AP are facing 4 hours powercut due to lack of rains.we definetly need nuclear power to offset the vagaries of nature effected hydropower. Further, AP itself is implimenting large scale pumping projects for irrigation in rayalaseema and telangana regions. From where are we going to get power? Further the proposed ganga kaveri link requires enormous power to pump water to southern states besides irrigating the upland areas of north. Industry is starving for power. If America is going to help us to overcome this problem, why should we oppose ? China became super power due to its friendship with USA developed duing Nixon days.why should we also not build up good relationship with America.
No body can question prime minister's intellectual brains. When he went for liberalisation during his stint as finance minister , the communists made hue and cry. To day's booming software industry and export oriented industries prove his foresight when he liberalised economy.prime minister is extremely honest, patriotic , sincere, highly efficient and humble. The mejority of population is for nuclear deal.BJP will suffer the most if elections are held today due its idiotic turn around on nuclear deal.
At least now, MPs belonging to parties opposing nuclear deal should exercize their conscience in supporting confidence motion and save the future power security of the nation.

Same problem happens in other cities also. Clearly India has a lot of shortage of power.
Generally the people who are opposing this deal come up with mis-informed reasons like:
- World Uranium deposits will end by 2030
- US wants to sell off old equipment to India
- India has enough Uranium till 2010.
Then there are unfounded and baseless conspiracy theories such as:
- Kalam and SP leader went to US some time back guess why?
- India will loose it independence.
- India's domestic program will be hurt.
- Manmohan wants to sell India.
- Many others.

None of their opposition is actually based on facts.

You are right about BJP. I hold Vajpayee in great respect and think he was a great leader but this un-reasonable turnaround has made BJP fall big time in my eyes.

I totally agree with Satyanand Rao. What is the idea of having a say in international matters when we live in darkness for hours together in our homes. No electricity - no water, no nothing. Let the left parties change their symbol to a lantern, for that is what they want Indians to use. All parties are deceiving the aam aadmi for their selfish short time gains. The people of India will punish them at the next polls. How come TRS has not yet realized that aam aadmi of Telangana does not want a separate Telangana. Did he not get the people's verdict during the assembly polls held a few months back? He just wants to sit on the CMs Gaddi in his dreamworld of Telangana State. Does he have a blueprint to show how a separate Telangana can survive without the backing of the income got from the Andhra region? Some politicians are truly scoundrels. They must be ridiculed publicly and their bluff must be called. I hope and pray that the PM will get the trust vote that he desires. Advaniji, this is called a tough PM.

I believe "inflation" is a short term issue, internals security" medium term while Nuclear Deal is a long term issue.

We can not compare them.

Can we compare inflation vs internal security on the priority list?
