dear friends, i have not been able to understand the projection of 2030 or 2020 because india's energy need is more than 100 times larger than what is being projected through n-deal i.e. 2052 mw. the uranium reserves are limited, we can't expect our needs to be fullfilled through uranium energy plants even 10%. even if the n-deal gets operationalised, the first energy we will get from it not earlier than 2020. than why this is so much hue and cry? moreover indian scientists are working to build reacter to get energy through thorium, and thorium reserves are so ample in india that it is sufficient for world need for more than 1000 years. china recently has developed a small prototype of reacter based on thorium. when our scientists are working on such thorium based reactres why we should not provide them more and more adequate fascilities because through thorium to get energy it will also take as much same time as it is projected through uranim. once thorium based reactres get operationalise fully it will solve the world energy crisis. than why we are running to US for uranium based deal on US terms which is not going to fullfill our 2% energy need by 2030 as being projecte?

Now you came to the point. THe thing is WHY? US is known in the entire world to use strong arm tactics to make or break things, because lot of nations Like INDIA and China have the capability to reach USA's status through thhird country;s help. USA wants to KEEP its position - superpower. Thus every govt has to abide by the US to ensure FDI and economic sanctions, and lot of other things.
George Bush said yesterday that the deal is good for both India and the US. It will be good to understand what is good for US in this deal if the deal is so good for India. Can someone explain?

business interests. there's huge market for US products in india because india's middle class population is equivalent to the entire US population. this is the main reason the left is objecting to nuclear deal because if US companies enter indian market, commies are feared they have to work hard to compete with us products.
also, US need a reliable ally in Asia region. who else is more reliable than India?
India would require 500-600 thousand MW of power by 2030 up from 132,110 at present. Thus nuclear power is the only way forward for India. Energy needs of India are increasing exponentially and only nuclear power is the way forward. Increased price of oil and gas internationally, issues of climate change associated with coal as well as the breakdown of consensus on big dams, India needs Nuclear Energy. India generates 132,110 lakh MW of power annually. Of this, 64.7 per cent is generated from thermal power, 26.2 per cent is generated through hydro electric power, 5.9 per cent is from renewable power sources and only 3.1 per cent through nuclear power.Nuclear power would contribute 10 per cent of the country's energy needs by the year 2022 and 26 per cent of the needs by the year 2052. Share of nuclear power in world wide energy production was one per cent in 1960 and between 1960 to 1986, it rose to 16 per cent of world's energy production. The share has remained constant since then. There are 439 nuclear power reactors operating around the world and the US accounts for 104 of these reactors followed by France at 59, Japan at 55, Russian Federation 31 and Republic of Korea 20. Out of the 35 new nuclear power plants under construction in the world, Asia accounts for 24 of these. While China is building six new nuclear power plants to get 5,222 MW power for its grid, India too is building six such plants which would add 2910 MW of to its grid.

cut it down.india shuld control population and power consumption both.
Recently US President said that Indian contribute to the global warming. He said earlier that because of the change of food habits of Indians the world food shortage is being experienced. He even said that the world shortage petroleum products is because of the excessive use by Indians and chinese. The change in their life style is the major cause of the increase in the price of oil. If this is the approach US has towards the economic problems of India how we are going to find solutions. The people's apprehension is that post agreement approach of US towards these problems will be more drastic. They look upon India for dumping their waste and finished products. That is why there was so much of opposition to the US agreement. Our Prime Minister is a meek man compared to other world leaders and he succumbs to excessive pressure. Having signed it should not blow up as a monster to devour our own capabilities. That is what we all apprehend.

It is a biased report in favour of nuclear deal. We want a neutral assessment of the deal, highlighting the merits, demerits and the risks.
