Afghan was once a part of the Great Indian culture
by Micheal on Jul 10, 2008 12:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Afghanistan was once part of the Great Indian culture before it fell to the religion of restriction from Arab land. Gandhar the present Kandahar was mentioned in the great MahaBharat. The Bamiyan Buddhas present the relation between India and Afghanistan. It provided the people in the Afghan region with the true religion of peace before being destroyed by the religion of restriction and destruction. In reality we are one people.

I wonder how the bamiyan statues survived for 1400 years ? Any logic of blaming Islam for that. If islam is responsible the they should have been destroyed 1400 years ago not now.

No body is blaming Islam, only some religious fundamentalists to blame. Why you take condemnation of some people to generalize for the entire community? We must have the moral courage to condemn any kind of intolerance, no matter displayed by which religion or race.

Iam a Muslim myself, but totally disagree with IslamKhan's post. True, Islam is against idolatry, but nowhere is it mentioned that there has to be a reckless destruction of idols. In fact, the Quran enjoins that one should respect all religions, even if the people are in majority or minority. Nowhere is it mentioned that you take RDX and blast away idols. The simple fact that the Bamiyan statues survived for 1400 years is proof that earlier Muslims rulers knew the true meaning of the Quran. And you say the Taliban were true Muslims? Does Quran say not to educate women? Islam is the most broadminded of all modern religions, but the Taliban took it back to the medieval ages. Shutting down schools, restricting women strictly to homes etc., is something that did not happen even during the prophet's time. And you talk so proudly of such dastardly actions being '100% sanctioned by Hadith/Quran.' You have overlooked the most basic concept in Quran. It also says you have to change with the times if need be, but without letting go of your 5 basic principles. And please dont tell me about 'artless Arabs.' Take a look at Dubai today, it would put even New York or Paris to shame. Please defer from putting posts like these. It will only add to the shameful and insensible words written here against Islam. Like someone has written, the problem is not with the religions (like some idiots write against Islam and Muslims here) but with the people who follow it. Lets have sensible discussions.

from khaledi hussainis book (kite runner) one gets to know that the afghans were not at all hard liner muslims. in fact they were very tolerant. the pakistanis took their kids during the war with russia and brainwashed them with radical and hateful thoughts. these people became the taliban and started issuing hard line islamic laws and murdering people who were not aggreing with them. so really, the pakis killed the country.

YES thats what happened. Pathans traditionally are secular people. Its US and Pakistan who started to make religion the topmost item on agenda and used it to mobilise people to fight Russian occupation. Now the problem has grown out of hand.
The country of brave handsome men and pretty courageous women is being torn apart by extremists from across the border. To see pathans fleeing to other coutries and to see them spending afghan winters without clothes to keep their children warm is something enough to stir your soul and pray to god to put an end to extremism because at the end of the day everyone is just trying to raise the families and put some food at the table.

Well you hate is making you speak for all muslims. According to you first thing a muslim should do after arriving in a western courty is renounce his/her religion. Right on the airport he should declare he is free. right ? But why doesnt that happen ? Because you are mistaken. You are painted 1.5 BILLION people with the same brush. There have been many instances of pure animal like behavior from your faith but in the interest of not hurting your feelings I wont elaborate.

Muslims may be different. But there is only one Islam which brings restrictions on humanity. They may follow the Islamic tenants or may not believe in it. Today those born to parents with Arabic names are considered as Muslims. The Son/Daughter may not believe in the Islamic ideology. It's time to unshackle the restrictions imposed by islam to live a good life as a good human being.

As a good human being meaning not killing a 2 million in vietnam, not killing a million in iraq not throwing nukes at civilians, not killing several million in world wars, not killing people in gas chambers , not being imperialistic, not stealing the resources of other countries. If that is wat you mean by good human being then yes muslims should stop doing all this a become good human beings.

Go back in history and find out how many people Muslim invaders in different countries have slaughtered. How many people they have converted on the edge of sword. You have to accept, only the ‘hardcore’ Islam teaches intolerance.

I have the right. I don't know in which suicide attack I will get killed because the so called religion of peace. I cannot tolerate such a stupid ideology in the name of god and see my fellow human beings getting killed just because they don't belive in the religion of peace and the almighty god. Such stupid thoughts and religion must not exist in this beautiful earth.

my friend every religion has followers who kill people of other religions. Hindus have BJP,shic sena , Bajrang Dal etc , sikhs used to have khalistani movement, Christians have had more than their share of killings in crusades.. so please don't signle out any one religion.. its the followers (and that too a small but mischievous minority) who are bad not the religion

If you are so confident of your holy book's sceintific perspective why do you want American & western universities to certify? Now after all the discoveries are made you want to interpret your holy book according to that? Every day there will be a new discovery and you guys will change your interpretaions to match with it.

Untill that you won't have any idea what is your holy book is pointing to. You pick verses and assign it to whole lot of discoveries made with mordern instruments and reaserch so easily. With those jugglery only muslims can be amused as they will be mindset to their own set of values & ethics.

Entire Afganistan was a Hindu country.
During emperor Kanishka and later it became a Buddist country.
During the Alexander's march, the Buddists gave such a fight that Alexander suffered terrible losses , in men and material.
When Islam came, it was easy for them to convert all the Buddhists to Islam. Lack of a cast structure (the steel frame of Hinduism , on its positive side ) made Buddhism vulnerable and it was bent easily before the sword of Islam.
The entire country Afganistan became an Islamic country.
It may be surprising but even now there are some native Hindus in Kandhar and other areas of Afganistan.
During Taliban rule, they were forced to wear a yellow badge on their chest , or other wise they should convert to Islam.
Hidus chose to wear yellow badge.
Many Afghanistan people , perticularly in cities ,understand Hindi language.

Kandhar was actually called Gandhari where the Kauravas mother Gandhari came from, in Mahabaharat. And remember Shakuni, the brother of Gandhari and also the secreat enemy of Kauravas was offcourse an Afghani.
