Obama is a Politican continued
by on Feb 25, 2008 08:05 PM  Permalink

I guess I exceeded my characters in the previous one: so continuing:
This shows that Obama is like anyother: will say anything to get the votes. What is more, it shows the scant regard, worse disregard he has for the Indian community. He is dishing out to the Indian community in America the same words he dishes out to all minority communities, and that could include Arabs, Muslims from other parts of the world, Latin American immigrants, Russians and so on. This in turn means he knows absolutely nothing about the Indian community concerns in America- not just those of the professionals but also of the business communities which have traditionally helped families emigrate over time.

Only a person who cares a hoot or who thinks "these people are putzes" will be so callous. Wake up!

Indian-Americans rooting for Obama ( I would go so far as to say Hilary or Obama) are foolish. They do not know which side of their bread is buttered. Ultimately, if Obama gets nominated, it will be a repeat of McGovern-Nixon election, only without Watergate.
McCain is a natural fit for Indian community. I do not know what prompts them to go in large numbers for Hilary or Obama. Chatwal might, because he monetarily benefited from them. But the community did not benefit from them at all (the Clintons). They are just talk. And now Obama shows himself to be one too.
So, tell me, where is the Ghandhian Spirit in that article?

Obama is a politician but I hope Indian Community is not Foolish

Obama Writes: "Since the attacks of 9/11, we have been gripped by a politics of fear that.. often targeted Indian Americans, excluding them from the American story. Too often, flawed strategies like racial profiling have had a disproportionate effect on Indian Americans. Too often, restrictions at our borders have prevented entry for many students and family members who seek nothing more than opportunity, and reunification with loved ones. "

This is hilarious. Whatever the other aspects of 9/11( and some suffering because of targeted attacks on Indians in the immediate aftermath), if anything India and Indians did not suffer from the Bush Government policies. It is a patent lie that restrictions have prevented family members from uniting. It is also a lie that less number of students have been going. And it is a white lie that employers have not been able to take Indians.

What kind of a fool are you. I dont know if you have even be living in the USA after 9/11. Of course there is a lot of racial profiling! Where have you been? You think Americans can detect India on the map? Do you think they know that most Indians are Hindus? They consider any brown looking asian as muslims. YES, many of my friends were denied visas from India since they were indian muslims! And stupid, Indians are a minority, so he HAS TO compare us with the other minority countries!! or put us in the same catagory. Are you disillusioned to think we are the largest minority? We are not one in the top 3 minority countries, so go figure. Sitting in India, you cannot make assumptions of how it is here, you can only imagine.

Thank you for your considered comment pm. If conditions were so bad, then many Indians would have returned by now. Indians who are returning to Bangalore, Hyderabad or Gurgaon are not doing out of fear or spite but with the optimism that their US citizenship keeps them safe while they can exploit the opportunities back in India. One must also recognize that Indians are among the richest minorities although they might lack the political muscle of the Chinese-Americans and the Jews. These two communities are larger and they had a longer tradition in the US.
Americans do not consider brown people Muslims unless you insist on going into the backwaters of Louisiana and drink moonshine. That could happen anywhere, for instance, if you go to a remote part of India.
Moreover, the replies of Mr. Parekh and one other individual should attest to what I am saying. Statistics show that Indians are the ones emptying the special visas. More has been done for India in the last eight years by US (sure it was in their self-interest too) than in the preceding thirty years.
I wonder if you also benefited from that and in particular, the special visas, for your post does not reveal higher education of above average quality. Evidently your American sojourn has not won you many local friends nor has it improved your linguistic skills; worse, it seems to have robbed you of any little civility you previously had.

nope, you are wrong, pm. those hindus who sport hindu symbols like om, or tilak or have easily recognizable hindu names are not harrassed in usa.to the conrary, they are well recieved. after 9/11 usa has imported more indian students than ever before and higher than any other country. it is important for obama to capitalize on politics of fear; so he makes up fear where none exists.

I dont know who you are and what is the depth of your knowledge in the matters of Pakistan. But one thing is certain that you are eager to pose yourself very intelligent in the matters of Pakistan ! To make you know in least words, dont teach Indians about Pakistan and its ruling elites, whose bites can never be cleansed from Indian souls for generations. Be better informed before teaching others provided you are not their agent for canvassing. Of course I do-not mean to blame a common Pakistani who is puppet and victim of state politics and sheds his life in the service of those demon Pakistani politicians.

You must be a stupid paki to call Indians as stupid. Do you think we are fools who dont know what this nation who is born on hatred and illwill and jealousy is all about. The way these people 99% of them give away thousands of rupees in their mosques donated to lashkars to carry out attacks in India. Its now that these very people who supported and rised these snakes are feeling their bites. Calling 90% of them as friendly is a joke..they may laugh or talk nicely but they carry dagger behind them. Their minds have been stolen by their quest to harm others, not only Indians but the entire world as they are jealous of Indian economic power and strength, to say that its economy is only 3 times smaller than India makes me laugh, have you read the economic reports of the World Ban/IMF, dont you read newspapers that USA is paying their army their salaries, that without Saudi aid they will go to dogs.

This is downright stupid. Blind prejudice. remarks like 'obama=osama'....'does he come that cheap'....almost like Mrs Hilary Clinton has bought you guys off. Casting aspersions on the United States' voting system is pretty ironical considering the kind of goons our own parliament is filled up with.

Let a person, not exactly european origin white become American President. The people of America is not able to exercise their voting rights properly. We saw it in the last presidential election. Their system failed to conduct a proper election to the presidency. Let them decide whom they want. Let us wait and watch.

If people are not behaving like you want they are not fools. American people have their own reasons to believe in some one. Be it Bush or Obama. Please do not call anybody fools just because they don't follow your line of thought.
