sachin should be be admired not only because of his achievements in cricket but also because of his behaivour off the field. despite all the fame and wealth he is calm composed and down to earth. gr8 men
but where is the ture sportsman? all over the world, apart from India the trully great palyers of any sports retire when they realise that they are losin the form, becoming a burden or the team is losing because of them.when will any Indian set an example??
1.ODI: Natwest trophy : england : tendulkar flops in single digit and leaves india in lurch. 2. Test : Eden garden test, 2001 against Aussies. tendulkar flops and leaves india in lurch. these two instances show tendulkar is total flop when it comes to crunch situation and only a over-hyped player. he was great from 1989-1999 only
India has produced great batsmen in Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar.I still feel, Sunil was the best betweeen them.Sunil, without wearing any protection gears faced worlds deadliest fast bowlers and scored centuries.Today we dont find bowlers like Holding,Roberts,Snow,Marshall,Garner,Imran,Akram,Sarfraz,Lilee,Thompson. Still i feel, these two batsmen never played for winning cause of Indian Team. They were surrounded by the record books to creat records in every outings they had representing Indian team. I feel sorry for vishwanath, sardesai, mohinder, dravid, laxman, sehwag for not getting the recognition for their achievements.

Absolutely correct, Mr. Sandyjohn.
Sunil Gavaskar was the first player ever to score 10000 runs in test cricket while opening for his team in batting but without wearing any helmet, that too against bowlers you have named.
He never had any fitness problems, like a tennis elbow, etc. He never missed a match for fitness related issues.
Of course in those days no. of matches were far less than what it is today. But at the same time we must admit that they never had these high profile coaches and the support staff appointed by BCCI.

I fully agree with you, We have a tradition of making heroes of players who play for their own records and getting after the ones who keep teams interest before their own
actually our country is full of underdog lovers. They put the underdogs like dhoni on a pedestal and pull down the greats like sachin down. The underlying psychology is simple.Losers identify themselves with underdogs.

yes.. lets keep sachin in team for next 20 yrs, hype in so much, make him make big bucks and allow indian team to loose as many matches a possible. u r right !!!
friends Hockey was once our real national sports now is cricket. Since when this start? in late 80s. We play a game in which theres a chance of winning either becuse of our skills like that was in hockey or becuase of less competition like in cricket. We hate to compete. But still want to win. 2-4 proper nations play cricket, still after indian could never win the Wc, frget being no 1 team. and now they want to play football, why cos all the world is playing watching n enjoying and what we are doing? Just dreaming is injurious if theres no rellevant afforts in that line. If young sportsboys like Budhiya can be discouraged from playing , if boys are raised to sing or dance and use fairnes creams. why the hell they are exopected to fight in a sports. sports is man thing, not indian thing. alas.
