God Loves man, we as human beings need to use the wisdom that God has provided us with...will we educated people take our loved ones to tight spots like this? would we not follow precautions , which we do even when our kids go to school in the morning. Its the poor, suffering middle class and lower middle class people who are very strong in their beliefs...and before educating them...it is the role of the GOVT to keep all visit places where PUBLIC throng SAFE & PROTECTED providing all basic ammenities...Anyway India being a highly cultural country..its going to be decades before any GOVT can put thier heads together to protect innocent people/pilgrims...today its them...tomorrow it may be me ...CR

well any time you to tirupathi there are a million ppl in the queue..in country with one billion religious fools we are going to be crowd every temple as though GOD will solve their miseries. I have heard of hundred such stampedes and no point in blaming govt// Honestly there is no solution for this..tonnes of ppl are jobless so they all go in huge swarms like bees or insects.
Sir - Faith moves mountain or sravan navratri or holy auspious day, it is just foolishness and why women and childrens. Why childrens to suffer. No arrangement or control can do with heavy mob. A push wave may come from back and barricades may broken or public may heart. In past such systems was taken because the people or relatives living far away had the chance to meet. Go on ordinary days and have peaceful darshan. What the darshan people have in such dhakka-mukki fast position leaving no time for darshan and offerings.
I`m a hindu first.I`m sorry to say that we Indians are selfish.look at the number of death tolls in the stmapede!! a stagering number of chilren and ladies!! the message is clear. when a calamity strikes we(read men) run for cover if possible we try save our loved ones.get panic easily.
do you really think religion has given indians a reason to stay sane and have faith in humanity?? tell that to a child who's parents were trampled to death by a mad rush of humans blinded by a delusional belief in a stone/wood or whatever. or was it ur god's will?????? again tell that lie to the child who is now an orphan. have you ever seen a deluded family performing meaningless rituals??? have u seen the level of hysteria involved? what do you think if u transport these deluded people to a place jampacked with a million other of their ilk. do you think u will be able to prevent a tragedy of this sort from happening. sorry. people drugged with religion do not care about humans. they only care about their beliefs, their rituals and superstitions. nothing can come between their beliefs and themselves. there is no civic sense, no humanity when it comes to belief.

While it is true that stampedes occur sometime because people rush in to take a look at the deity, in this particular case that is not what happened. There is no final word on what caused the stampede and the rumors are about landslides, not about people rushing to see the deity.
Also, though it is correct that people's religious zeal can sometimes be a cause for stampede, it is generally not the main cause. The main cause is the lack of proper facilities and crowd management at the temples. If even one-tenth of that 9 crores were spent properly in modernizing the temple surroundings, this incident might not have happened.

i dont think my tax money should be spent propagating superstitions like god. i dont want my tax money to be wasted on structures built for propagating harmful and divisive beliefs. many of these places are places that do not allow women to enter. it is very important to keep the temple(church, mosque) separate from the state. it would be better if instead of pouring money down this black hole of superstition, if money were spent in colleges, roads, human welfare, animal conservation, agriculture, science. if instead of doing thread ceremonies on their boys, parents would instead educate their 12 year old boys that eve teasing should not be tolerated. if instead of telling little girls entering puberty that now u r not allowed to go to this temple on these days, instead open the doors of scientific inquiry to her. show her how beautiful her body maintains her menstrual cycle. how stem cells which can make any organ (theoretically) are present in her menstrual blood. make her feel proud of her body. instead of spending my tax money on 'modernizing' a rotting system, spend it instead on the future.

u mister have a classic sense of conceit. my religion is good and my neighbour's religion is bad. look at the bloody caste system. a brahmin is born from brahma's ear/nose whatever. a kshudra is born from this thigh....look objectively at ur belief system and u will realise how hilarious and how harmful it is. sati, shaving a woman's head bcos her husband died, considering a menstruating woman 'impure' were/are all part of ur religion. do you know which thought processes led to banning some of those heinous practices? a sense of humanity as propagated by western beliefs. not christian beliefs but beliefs propagated by western secularists, humanists like Rousseau and others starting from the french revolution. open ur eyes to the world. look objectively. it is not turtles all the way down...
More damage was done to the Hindu psyche and religion in independent India pursuing a Nehruvian socialism and appeasement policy than under the British. If India had accorded Hinduism the pride of place it would have become a global force in peacemaking and tolerance. India's own caste problems would have also gone. India today has no authority to control and modernize temples and pilgrimages. These could have been a wonderful spiritual experience not to talk about the economic benefits and interaction they bring among people from far and wide. India must immediately MODERNIZE all places of worship and pilgrimage where thousands and sometimes millions congregate. Just watch how develop countries control crowds and regulate temples. HIndu temples today are simply pushing and shoving with hundreds of touts bothering worshipers. These should be well educated licensed people and entry to temples should be disciplined and safe.

You are 100% right. If it had not been British, Hindu's would have been minorities in land of hindu land. It was political, but nevertheless blessing in disguise, since they reinstated hinduism to undermine mughal rule.

Why to blame Nehru for this tragedy.HP is BJP ruled state and the way police slapped and caned victims of stampede is enough to realise the fact BJP or Congress it is public which is responsible for behaviour, police remains same irrespective of Govt.
what has religion given indians other than a bunch of blind insane rituals, superstition, belief in many teapots which revolve around the earth. looks like it also has given us a lot of dead bodies.

Mr. Ghulam religion is never the reason of communalism. It grows in the mind of people.Your religion has allowed to kill people. No, same is the case with other religion also.In no case religion should be blamed for communalism. It is the mind setup of people.

I am not a staunch worshipper myself, but a world without religion, culture and faith is unimaginable!Especially in a country like India where a vast majority of people live in poverty, religion is what gives them faith in humanity and help them stay sane.
