SLumdog came out to be a winner posy Obama Change Campaign! It resulted that non white people and non american people are given some chance to represt the change. It may appear Far sighted but consider the Equation where India is enjoying new found relation with US in era of recession and at the same time US also needs to acknowledge that they care for Muslim world and hence A R Rahman. There might be more to this and not visible to naked eye.
To me it is a very mediocar film.Well it has got Oscar,so?Oscar is not something big,it is exclusively an american business.Our joy is some Indian origin acted in this film and they are sucessful.But so media hype!!A.R Rahman's music is nowhere near to his talent.He had many more fine tunes in many films.We the Indians are really crazy."BOMBAY""WATER""TARE JAMIN PAR" and many more are deserving.Also remember the tune of Roja.Fantastic!!

This movie is just a third class movie. It is not appealing to anybody. It is just a 'SHIT' creativity showed by Director Boyle in the first scene of the movie itself

I share your view though not in the same words. A foreigner director has made the film showing Indian slumdogs,and probably those foreign audiences saw something beyond their comprehension in that movie, and thought it was spiritual, Nirvana etc. I am particularly shocked about Oscars for INDIAN MUSIC. None of these foreigners can ever understand our music. Perhaps, they connected music also to some mysticism. After all, every foreigner from his childhood, has only understood that ear-splitting one-two,one-two beat on heart jarring drums, coupled with shamelessly suggestive pelvic movements of some guitar player ! It is a shame we are glorifying ourselves on this Oscar which can either be the greatest fluke or Obama`s influence.
why are we Indians so deperate for a pat from the US. AR has provided music that is a zillion times better in movies like Roja , Taal , Indira , Pudiya Mugam etc.We as Indians should have our own identity & not get mixed up with materialism. We have already lost some good cinema which were made by greats like Satyajit Ray , Adoor , Aravindan,Mirnal Sen,Gautom Gosh , Girish kasaravalli,Ms sathyu,Mani kaul etc.The national awards has gone to dogs and the country producing mediocre stuff which degrades and dips the nations IQ.
