Its a tight call between SRK and Rajnikanth. Both of them are vastly over-rated and people mistake their personality for their great acting skills. I would think Rajnikanth would win this coz he has been doing this for many many years now with his apparent lack of acting, dancing, emoting or any other motion cinema skills required of an actor claiming to be a "Hero"...SRK for the most part is a 2 bit actor who repeats what he knows...he is like the circus bear who knows how to drive a bike, but can drive it only in a circular direction and knows only that.

obviously u did not c his earlier films like "anthu leni kadha" in telugu, or his "chattaniki kallu levu" etc. I am sure there are a few more films which showcase his acting talent. What catapulted him to the star status is his style and smart choice of big films. SRK is yet to indulge in pure acting, but who cares, he is just great to watch in whatever he does, the man has too much of charisma to think of more intellectual stuff. Terming them as over-rated displays a lack of understanding of what cinema is about. Style, grace and charisma are indeed inherent parts of acting. Hari Yelleti

I disagree w.rajinikanth has being overrated as an "actor", unlike srk who is not only overrated as an actor but also has an entertainer.
Rajinikanth has done villian, comedy, romance, drama, and for the past decade action roles. Yes its true, tht in sivaji his stunts wer way over board and he needs to stop doing those stunt and style stuff since its the usual.
He's been doin it 4 a decade, only thin instd of cigarette popping(which ws cool back in the days)now its gum, some other kiddy stuff.
In srk's case he has tried to do roles tht ar diff. from his usual romantic stuff but faild misrably as a villain in the past and in don. As far as his humor is concrned, he will be the first, last, and only person to laugh at his jokes. Srk too does not hav style just the self propsd king status w/his media boyfriends.
Rajniknth has nevr used media and hs never prmotd his movie, endorsemnts, still his images ar used for free on many accecories ranging from school items to being pasted on the face of sai baba and other gods to be worshipd by his fans.
In some ways rajini fans ar treating him literally like gods, but he does not respond and build temples placing his statue besides the gods in temples.
Amitabh is the king of all actors even at 60 plus his acting like in black, chinikum eklavya is the banch mark for shahrukh, salman or saif. Amitabh, Aamir n Akhay are three aces of bollywood apart Hrithik.
Rediff deliberately puts up such controversies so that people like you and me are always quarelling and fighting. You know they earn money from the little ads that appear here beside these conversations. Every time a page loads they earn around 100 rupees. It is less for one load hence they incide people to keep posting and then they put one moderator who is biased... they dont mind dividing the country so guys lets boycott rediff
Most overrated, overpaid actor (male): Rajnikanth (in the whole world) (Akshay Kumar, underrated) Most overrated, overpaid actor (female): Aishwarya Rai (all female actors have short gestation periods today, but Aish sucks the most, and has totally humiliated India across Hollywood. Mallika Slutawat is another btch humiliating India across Chinese cinema too, one step ahead) Most overrated, overpaid "meaningful cinema" actor (male): Boman Irani Most overrated, overpaid "meaningful cinema" actor (female): Shabana Azmi Most overrated director: Sanjay Leela Bhansali
If rediff thinks that Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan are over-rated, please google and look for the kind of publicity Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan get. It is ridiculous how a movie like Om Shanti Om was considered a "good" movie. And, Salman Khan's acting in Partner, need I say more? The Hindi film industry will never learn. All we need are "stars" no real actors. Shame on rediff for showing the bias. You've lost quite a bit of credibility.
