This is absolutely ridiculous. Why place Gandhi statues in New York. Gandhi was a great Indian leader, not an American leader. Would we Indians allow a statue of George Washington to be placed in Delhi or Mumbai - absolutely not. Americans likewise will not appreciate Gandhi statues placed at public landmarks. Stop pushing our leaders and culture on other people.
By the way, most Indians did not come to America through Ellis Island, so why have a Gandhi statute on Ellis Island? These kinds of projects will lead to friction between us and local residents. STOP ALL THIS MADNESS.
Here in USA, Work is worship. If they hold the india day parade on friday Aug 15th 2008, then all traffic in manhatten will come to a halt and there will be a monetary loss of $1 billion in that two hours. so it is held on sunday!

This is all fake patriotism the orginaser FIA president Yash Paul Soi wanted US national anthem to be played b4 Indian National anthem at Indian Consulate (which is consider an Indian territory)
First of all it is very much proud for us that Indian Indipendence day celebrates there by this grand fashon, kudos to them. Now a very much serious thought: Raj Thakre saya that "the North Indians strictly not to celebrate their UP day in Mumbai, it is showing that they have not forgotten their place & they don't think Mumbai like a motherland, he already given a threat that if they celebrate this they have to face serious conciqencec", now what he thought about this Prade day, if we thinks his point of view says that all the Indians have to forgot Indian & not to celebrate this I-Day Prade, B'coz they are in NY. I am very much eager to know his answer.
